An update from the trenches...

A few times a year I want to report back on how the Full Stack PDX Meetup is doing… Hard work does not come without sacrifice, a few tears, and a bit of a struggle. Going from 0 members to approaching 1K has been a thrill to say the least and I do not see us slowing down anytime soon. Today we hit the 971 marker. We are selling out, the presentations are getting more and more complex, and we are expanding with new partnerships. I was asked recently why we have seen such success with our group. My answer is always the same thing. We believe, at our core, that every minute spent at one of our events should yield ten fold back to the attendee. There are an assortment of options pulling at our time, and I believe that we should not waste that. The second question is always what are the presentations about, the format, etc. My answer is, first, you have to come to experience it and see for yourself. Second, we never prescribe it. There are no limits, use your imagination, and you never have to worry about language. In fact, you will hear the word FUCK often. Business, and the markets do not care about feelings, they care about results, drive, passion, and determination. We encourage tough critiques, open dialogue, collaboration, and team work. Today we also adjusted our price to $5.03, the PDX core area code. It will be the final destination, and is something I have envisioned since the jump. If $5 bucks is a challenge for you, then I would be more concerned with Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. Also, there are another 100 or so meetups around town you can jump in to. We are ok with being different, being the anomaly. It works. We continue to iterate. Nothing is the same, and new partnerships are in the works. Who knows… maybe one day you will see one of these in the 303, 312, or 212. If you are curious about the photos… We started serving pizza from Crown PDX by Imperial. One of the presentations won the last startup weekend in Vancouver and we connected them with Starve Ups as well as my attorney at Immix Law. A trail research application, and an application to help you journal.
