Why? And what the hell does this even mean?

Allow me to explain.

What limits income growth for most people is not a lack of knowing or will, but an idea about who they would be if they did the thing that would bring more money in.

For some, it’s because they grew up in an environment where money (or people with money) seemed out of reach. For some of these, having money or those with money seemed downright dirty.? Despite their desire to make more money, they have an aversion to it too.

For others, it is because they grew up around money, and came to associate self-worth with net worth. They learned ideas like character is credit, time is money and money makes the man. While they have been able to make a modicum of money through its familiarity, they find ultimately that their attachment is a limit. It haunts them as the aversion of the others.

At the heart of both aversion and attachment is the fear of being someone you cannot stomach being.

The path of freedom from this fear is long and arduous. It is a spiritual quest with a promise of liberation, of which we are given glimpses, but as we trek, the destination seems always to recede.

This is because we look for ways to make more money that protect us from being who we don’t want to be.

The trouble is that it is being who we don’t want to be that is our path to abundance.

The full breadth of our power awaits on the other side of the stories we have about ourselves and the world.

The most untenable stories, the ones we are certain to be bad, wrong, and unacceptable - these are the stories at the center. The ones fully eclipsing our souls.

When we meet our demon, we discover not a foe, but a friend.

It is the meeting that is the crucible. An awakening to your innocence through the full confrontation of that which you despise within you.

When you do this, you become free in a way that a path of purity never offered you.

You do not become free from that which limited you, you become free with it.
