Thriving Communities

The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) have introduced the first of its kind, Iowa Thriving Communities designation, to provide communities with a chance to be recognized for their efforts in innovation and best practices in housing development for their workforce.

Newly designated Iowa Communities will be unveiled at an Iowa Thriving Communities HousingIowa Conference Welcome Reception in Cedar Rapids on Tues., Sept. 5 and will present at the HousingIowa Conference on Wed., Sept. 6.

Iowa Homeownership Incubator

The Iowa Homeownership Incubator requires partnerships amongst a lending institution and/or real estate company and community organization or business and the winning pitch will be awarded $20,000 to educate Iowans about financial literacy as it relates to homeownership and assistance programs available to them (emphasis on IFA programs for low to moderate income Iowans) with a focus on innovation!

Finalists will be determined by the Iowa Finance Authority and the Iowa REALTORS? and will be invited to make their pitch to a panel of industry judges at the HousingIowa Conference on Wed., Sept. 6.

Innovation Set-Aside

OPPORTUNITY TO TURN INNOVATIVE IDEAS IN HOUSING INTO A REALITY TO MEET STATEWIDE HOUSING NEEDS?

NEW! In addition to encouraging innovation in current housing development, this initiative will also invest in the future of innovation and skilled trades in Iowa. IFA will be committing all application fees received through the Innovation Set-Aside to scholarships for high school students interested in pursuing a career in innovation and housing in partnership with the Home Builders Association of Iowa.

The pre-application for the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program (LIHTC) Innovation Set-Aside is now available here.

Innovation Set-Aside pre-application must be submitted by July 17, 2023
