Upcoming Book Talk at IIT Hyderabad: Dharmanomics
Did Rajaraja Chozha, who built the world-renowned B?hadī?vara temple in Tanjavur, erect that enduring marvel with a magic wand?
Surely not.
So then, how did the people of our tradition cultivate greatness?
In 'Dharmanomics', his sequel to the book ‘Kautilyanomics’, author Sriram Balasubramanian explores the answers to these questions through the examples of empires like the Chozha, PÄ??ya, and Vijayanagara. Along with Southeast Asian kingdoms, these ancient empires nurtured prosperity and created enduring marvels such as the B?hadÄ«?vara Periya Kovil and Angkor Wat.
The ancient model was a function of Kau?ilyan, dhÄrmika capitalism, of the temple driven ecosystems, and corporate guilds bound by ?re?i dharma which spanned thousands of years.
In collaboration with the Dept. of Heritage Science and Technology, IIT Hyderabad , we invite you to the next talk in the Heritage Lecture Series, where Sriram B. presents his new book -
Dharmanomics - An Indigenous and Sustainable Economic Model.

Our Earth, whether privately owned as per human law, or freely owned by non-human species as per Natural law, is the basis of capital, the basis of money, the basis of economy. Today, only our species is faced with a painful question, though not a difficult one. The question is, if we have to wind up all our man-made ideas - economy, money, capital, human law - is it worth saving the planet? Does it even make sense having a planet if we can't live like we do? People are thinking about it rather logically, businesses not so logically, and governments, because they are neither people nor businesses, but only middlemen between the two, are utterly confused. Trouble is it is governments that are running the negotiations, when they are not even party to the problem.
