The Unwritten rules in office!
Those starting work soon, you're welcome. Take it with a pinch of salt and do read from others too.
Controversial post what say you?! (Yes (Number), No (Number))
1. Ears are the most sensitive part in the Corporate world: Everything including walls, chairs, table, pen on the table and your handkerchief has EARS!. Keep your mouth shut. Don’t talk bad!
2. A-lickers are most successful: No matter how (Einstein)ish you are in your job, you have to know the art of ‘buttering’. 80% survive by ‘licking’ and 20% by working really hard. This 20 % feed other 80% also!
3. Never ever speak about your salary: It is the greatest mistake to discuss salary in the office. You may not get a raise but may get many ‘eyes raised’ on you!
4. Befriend office boy, drivers, admins & etc: These little guys have maximum information about almost all office politics. Be generous with them. Spend some money on them (Usually, they are poorly paid). They will give you all classified ‘insider’ information!.
5. The sweetest in the room is the deadliest in the room: Never be afraid of ‘angry lots’. Be afraid of those who never react. They are the most dreaded. Always pay special attention to whatever you speak to them. Never believe their ‘truth’ let alone a lie!
6. No matter how hard-working are you, whatever shows, sells. You must make every conscious effort to let your seniors know how hard you are working. The effort is only valid when it is visible.

5 年Bad experiences thanks to number 5. I have learnt my lesson from the sweetest person in the office. Wish I had known this when I first started working.

6 年Good one there. Adding to that #4?are the secretaries, especially for the C-suite guys. They are the gate keepers. Having a good relationship with them means you can get a quick check on the schedules, or managed to be squeezed in between appointments.?
