UnWrite the Rules of Weight Loss.

UnWrite the Rules of Weight Loss.

Let us be honest about something. Diets work. All of them. You know that, of course, and that the only difference in them (besides the celebrity endorser) is the cost, and degree of life-stress to make it happen.

You also quietly acknowledge the 800 pound elephant in the room — they all end up leading you to weight re-gain. All of them.

So you get stuck in this awful middle ground, wavering between which piece of truth you are going to listen to at any given phase of your life.

It’s a sad reality that the only options you have to lose weight, and to keep it off, is mired in a “diet choice” conundrum wrapped in an illusion of resolution.

You can’t keep going on that way, year after year. You know that, too. With no other good options, what else can you do?

Everyone you know, or seemingly so, has gone on a diet at one time or another. When they first start they are excited and optimistic. You want to jump on their bandwagon and share their successes and feel that joy of taking control of your body again.

A few months later, they are down, discouraged, and back where they were when you first considered joining them in their quest.

You have to ask, “What the h_ _ k is going on?” “Why does this have to be so hard?” “Why are we all stuck in the same cycle of gain-lose-re-gain? (Just like the rotating class of celebrity endorsers who lose, re-gain, lose and re-gain.)”

The real solution is not obvious because everyone keeps doing the same thing — dieting. There is this tremendous rush that everyone talks about, to start the year out with post-holiday weight loss. Then there is the late-Spring, pre-Summer need to get into clothes at once cooler, but also more revealing of your body. After Labor Day, you feel to give it a go once again. The Holidays kill all your best intentions, then you are all back to where you started a year ago. Are any of you lighter now than you were then?

If everyone keeps failing, year after year…if you are no nearer your weight goal year after year, you need to think more clearly about what you are doing.

You can’t keep following the crowd to the same place of failure. You are not a lemming. Just because everyone else seems to be jumping into the ocean of diets, doesn’t mean you need to follow them and drown in their collective re-gain future.

Think about that for a moment...

If everyone is ultimately failing on diets, no matter which one they use, doesn’t that call into question the very existence, the legitimacy of dieting?

Can you see that jumping into dieting with the January-crowd is leading not only to your own weight re-gain, but also will begin to affect your health long term -- if it hasn’t already?

You need to re-write your future. You can’t keep doing this, no matter how many people are doing it.

You need to unfollow the crowd.

You need to blaze your own path to less weight and improved health. You need to renounce the paths that lead to weight re-gain. You need to slay the beast that is draining your self-confidence and creating your weight re-gain. You need to undiet your life.

You need to write the new rules of no re-gain weight loss into your mind. You may not know how to do that, just yet, but look inside yourself to see that it’s your only path forward. You know that is it — whatever that may turn out to be. You can’t just keep doing the same thing January after January, and expect a different result.

Undieting is the only path forward that makes any sense.

Sure, undieting is a revolutionary way of thinking. There is certainly no obvious crowd rushing to undiet. But, you are not responsible for them, You are responsible for you…and there are a lot of people counting on you being around and healthy for many more years…so you are not the only one who has a direct stake in your ultimate weight-loss success.

If you don’t know anything else, realize that dieting has always led you to gaining more weight longer term. Just quit doing it, and you will slow or even stop your regular weight gain. From there you can begin to work out what undieting means for you. And, step-by-step, you will slowly and steadily begin to lose weight.

Start there. Start by acknowledging that permanent weight loss doesn’t come in a box delivered to your door, nor a pill, supplement, or shot in the arm. It begins with your commitment to never diet again.

Unfollow the crowd. Let others follow you to undieting — a future without dieting. It may be revolutionary, or even unclear what all that means right now. But, for sure, you can’t keep doing what you've all been doing for too many years.

Rewrite your future.

Very insightful and True Boyd Jentzsch! My next book, “Exodus From Dieting!” How to Turn Your Shame Into Strength and Success, speak to freeing ourselves from perpetual patterns of failure. Albeit we have different life experiences, you and I are on the exact same wavelength. Perhaps you could write the Introduction or Foreword. ?? #UnDiet #WeightLossJourney #ValULifeMore
