I am Cirus Sumika, an avid innovator, and proudly serve as the Founder, Team Lead & CEO of Sumic IT Solutions Ltd and Sumic Online . It is with immense gratitude that I acknowledge the invaluable support we've received from the National ICT Innovation Hub , an initiative established by the Uganda Ministry of ICT & National Guidance and made possible by the Government of Uganda.

?Our headquarters are located within the hub itself, a testament to the symbiotic relationship between Sumic IT Solutions and this remarkable innovation hub. Our journey began in 2019, and since then, we have emerged as a prominent digital transformation solutions provider across Africa. Our core focus lies in empowering Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by crafting affordable, standardized, and sustainable technologies that pave the way for their growth and autonomy within the ecosystem.

Throughout our trajectory, we've been relentless in our pursuit of software development excellence, culminating in the launch of innovative products like Sumic Online. This journey is driven by our vision to ascend as a global tech leader, capable of inspiring and innovating for consumers worldwide. ?Championing Government-Led Innovation

At the core of the National ICT Innovation Hub's mission lies the recognition of the importance of government support in nurturing an innovation ecosystem. The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance has designed the National ICT Initiatives Support Programme (NIISP) to facilitate the creation of an ICT Innovation ecosystem and marketplace for Ugandan innovative digital products. This visionary initiative tackles bottlenecks to creating a digital ecosystem, promoting the development and deployment of applications that enable government, companies, and individuals to innovate and reach new markets.

My Personal Experience: A Testament to the Hub's Impact

My personal experience with the Hub is appreciative in nature, coming from a humble background, with high struggles to make it as an African Innovator honestly it wouldn’t have been easy at all without the support from the Hub. From the professional office space, mentors through monthly talks, professional and monthly check-in, all these have made my vision for Sumic IT Solutions become clearer. I can't just explain it in words, but it's so great.

During our tenure at the National ICT Innovation Hub, we have accomplished the following:

1. Product Enhancement: We have significantly improved our product, Sumic Online, an e-commerce platform, thanks to the conducive environment and resources provided by the Hub. Sumic Online services over 15,000 customers, supporting over 50 vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to sell their products online.

?2. Skills Development: We have invested in the training and upskilling of our staff in various ICT-related areas, ensuring that our team remains at the forefront of technological advancements.

?3. Internship Opportunities: We have offered valuable internship opportunities to over 50 students, contributing to their professional growth and development.

?4. Employment Generation: We have created 9 employment opportunities within our organization, thereby contributing to job creation in our community.

?5. Funding: We successfully secured over $7,000 in funding from prestigious organizations such as the Private Sector Foundation Uganda and Master Card Foundation, which has enabled us to further our mission and expand our operations.

?6. Awards and Recognition: Our dedication to innovation and excellence has been acknowledged with several awards, including "Startup of the Year in Tech" and "Startup of the Year overall" at the Uganda Innovation Week. Additionally, we received global recognition and a nomination for the Global Startup Awards 2023 as the "Startup of the Year 2023."

?7. Founder's Achievement: Our Founder, Team Lead, and CEO have been nominated for the "Founder of the Year Africa Awards 2023" as a Techpreneur of the Year under 30, a testament to our visionary leadership.

Digital Transformation: We have played a pivotal role in driving digital transformation for over 50 enterprises in Africa by providing them with standard, affordable, and sustainable technologies, thereby contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goals 8 and 9.
