Do you ever find yourself nodding in agreement, surrounded by a sea of discontented individuals, all musing about the dire need for an extra income stream? It's a familiar scene, especially after a rough annual review or missing out on that coveted promotion. These conversations flare up like clockwork, escalating to a fever pitch, only to fizzle out faster than a deflated balloon, leaving us with a hangover effect. Amid this relentless, repeated cycle, I began a cognitive exploration to unravel the enigmatic force causing our collective aspirations for financial liberation to stumble repeatedly. This concise tale encapsulates the essence of my network discussions, interwoven with personal insights into our missteps and missed opportunities.
Excuse #1: Lack of Funds - A Myth Unraveled:
The first excuse that often pops up is lack of funds; though it's true to an extent, it's not as big a stumbling block as it is projected to be. Let's do a reality check on this. Suppose a fairy from Wonderland appears and hands over a cheque of USD 1 million with one condition that the funds can be used solely for business purposes. How many of us are ready, at least with high-level business plans? We aren't; it means we are convincingly deceiving ourselves with a fleeting excuse for the lack of funds.
Excuse #2: The Time Conundrum - A Reckoning:
The second one is that 'Ain't got time for that!' Let me share a little anecdote. When the Chennai flood gatecrashes our perfectly planned schedules, and bam! No logging into work for a whole week. Chaos, right? But when we returned to the land of Wi-Fi, drowning in a sea of emails. Guess what? Only a measly 20% of those emails needed our precious attention. Yep, you heard that right. We could've effectively finished a week's work in about two days or less. Now, let's spice things up. Imagine a week where we go on a digital diet. Yes, I'm talking about bidding farewell to Netflix binges, WhatsApp group chat marathons, and the endless scroll through social media feeds. Are you following me? That's plenty of time saved! Seriously, still wanna play the 'ain't got time' card?

Excuse #3: The Problem Statement Illusion - A Reality Check:
Ah, here comes another classic excuse: 'I can't find a problem to solve!' Hold your horses because this one's a doozy. A few weeks ago, I was at a Nascom conference, surrounded by startup magicians proudly showing off their cool products. We've got one dude trying to solve the traffic chaos with flying taxis (like, seriously, future vibes!), another genius combatting human scavenger hunts through automation (yes, like a high-tech superhero), and hey, there's even a team simplifying prosthetics for our awesome differently-abled pals. Now, here's the kicker: these folks aren't off in la-la land dreaming up problems; they're tackling real-life issues we face every dang day! So, let's wave goodbye to that excuse about not finding a problem statement. If these brainiacs can dive into our everyday chaos and come up with solutions, indeed, there's something out there we can fix, too, right?
The Real Culprit:
So, if money, time, or the scarcity of problems aren't the real roadblocks, what's the colossal hurdle? Brace yourselves; it's the elaborate web of excuses we weave, convincing ourselves that success is unattainable. But here's the truth: Mindshift is the crucial first step toward your dreams of liberation. It's daunting yet pivotal. Recall the rush of uncertainty when you hopped on a bicycle for the first time, the thrilling plunge into the water for that inaugural swimming lesson, and the heart pounding in your chest when you leapt to propose to your sweetheart. Each moment was a test of courage, an electrifying blend of fear and determination. Yet, against the odds, you prevailed. Similarly, those who've conquered mountains didn't do it from the cosy corners of comfort but hustled in the scorching fires of the unknown.
Taking the Leap and Embracing the Unknown:
Sitting amidst the polished corporate walls, armed with vibrant spreadsheets and gleaming markers, won't propel us in this direction. Look beyond the confines of comfort, step outside your office cocoon, and witness the raw determination of the corner shop or the elderly woman peddling flowers on the sidewalk. Despite battling behemoth multinational corporations and weather's unpredictable whims, they persist and forge ahead. Deep within their souls, they understand the paramount truth: the gravest risk in life is avoiding risks altogether. So, what's holding you back now? Do you still believe it's external barriers that stop you? or is that BS story that you keep repeating to yourselves as to why you can't achieve it?

11 个月I love your enthusiasm. Yes, starting a business is within the grasp of everyone. There are fantastic, great ideas out there that haven't seen the light of day, yet. But here is the stark reality. It takes months to go from prospect to payment. Are you prepared to go 16 months without a paycheck? A business requires 4 critical personas: The Strategy Warrior, The Operational Guru, The Marketing and Sales Star, and the Delivery person. When you are starting as a sole practitioner, you're doing it all. When you're delivering at one client, are you filling your funnel for the next job? I love that we started our company and have a bright future. But it took a personal investment of time and money, as well as dedication and actually walking the walk - doing the work, from both of us. It's not easy, I would be lying if I said otherwise. But, I'm not trying to discourage, just give you things to think about. It's a commitment that you and your family need to agree to make. Because it will affect your family, they need to understand their role in this proposition.
