I recently found myself engrossed in a thought-provoking conversation with a colleague about the importance of wellbeing and whole-person care in our lives. As an advocate for fostering healthy habits, I firmly believe that prioritising our wellbeing can have a profound and lasting impact. However, it became evident that in our corner of the world, wellbeing is often overshadowed by the relentless pursuit of financial gain. This realisation sparked a series of questions within me: Is wellbeing truly a luxury? Does pursuing wealth mean sacrificing our holistic wellbeing? In my quest for answers, I stumbled upon a remarkable book called "Rich Habits" by Tom Corley written more than 10 years ago which opened my eyes to a different perspective. It immedidately led me to reflect on the life of my mentor, let's call him John, a successful entrepreneur who effortlessly embodied both prosperity and wellbeing.
John, a remarkable individual, radiated positive energy and emanated a sense of fulfillment that piqued my curiosity. Intrigued by his harmonious approach to life, I embarked on a mission to unravel the habits and secrets that had propelled him to such heights of success. I was determined to understand how he seamlessly integrated prosperity and wellbeing into his daily existence. I sat down with my mentor over a cup of coffee, ready to dive deep into his journey of wealth and wellbeing. The air was filled with anticipation as I posed questions, eager to uncover the hidden gems of wisdom that had shaped his extraordinary life. What unfolded during that conversation was nothing short of transformative.
I started the interview by asking John a fundamental question: Is it possible to balance being rich and being healthy? This question cut to the heart of the matter, as it seemed that many people viewed wealth and wellbeing as opposing forces rather than complementary aspects of a fulfilling life. I was eager to hear John's perspective on this matter and discover if he had found a way to integrate both elements successfully. John's response was filled with wisdom and insight, emphasising the importance of finding harmony between wealth and wellbeing. He explained that true wealth goes beyond mere financial abundance—it encompasses a holistic state of thriving in all areas of life. According to John, achieving financial success without taking care of one's wellbeing is a recipe for imbalance and eventual burnout. Instead, he advocated for the integration of whole-person care, where success in both professional and personal realms is achieved through a balanced approach. John emphasised that nurturing physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing is essential for sustained success and fulfillment.

The Journey of forming Good Habits
The journey of integrating these principles into our own lives begins with self-reflection and a commitment to positive change. By taking inventory of our current habits and consciously making choices that align with whole-person care, we can embark on a transformative journey towards a harmonious and fulfilled existence.
Grab a piece of paper and divide it into two columns: bad habits on the left and good habits on the right. This simple exercise allows us to gain insight into our current behaviors.
For instance, if you find yourself spending excessive time watching television or playing games, challenge yourself to restrict it to just one hour per day. Similarly, consider replacing unhealthy eating habits with nutritious alternatives, or dedicating time each day to learning something new through reading. By reviewing this list of habits regularly, we can track our progress and make necessary adjustments on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even annual basis.
In conclusion, embracing the concept of whole person care is the key to unlocking a truly wealthy life. Thrivewell's 12 dimensions of whole-person care complemented by the habits of the wealthy, provide a roadmap to success, prosperity, and fulfillment. Let us embark on this journey together, embracing a personal commitment to well-being while reaping the remarkable rewards it brings. 6 个月Forming good habits can be challenging. Does John practise a unique framework? For me, I noticed that many people find it draining to write emails. I was too, but using a similar principle to John's helped me write emails with confidence. I talk about it here, hope it helps: https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/mike-mak-email-sleepwriter_for-153-days-i-struggled-with-email-anxiety-activity-7189988946364239872-RjVS
