Unveiling the new face of Volkswagen in China

New energy, new colours, new logo, new purpose: China was the latest market to experience our new brand identity, as we officially launched it in Guangzhou last month. What a show it was! Under the theme “Welcome to New Volkswagen”, we showcased four new models and our electrifying plans for the future.

Such a lot to take in, and for good reason… this is a special place for us.

Leading the pack

We had to go big in China. Why? Because Volkswagen sedans have long been favoured here, and now we’re the number one choice for SUV customers as well. This is incredible! Since 2018, we’ve launched 14 new models, including 5 additional SUVs. Our commitment to meeting demand is as strong as ever.

As e-mobility continues to grow in this region, our next focus will be new energy vehicles (NEVs). We aim to launch 10 NEV versions of existing models by 2020. Beyond that we look to the all-electric ID to make serious ground.

An electrifying ride

By 2023, 10 electric-only ID.s will be on sale in China. Our event in Guangzhou teased two. The ID. ‘First’, which took to the stage in camouflage, will be the definitive electric SUV for China. It’s expected within 12 months in many flavours: sedans, crossovers and different SUV sizes. 

Next was the ID.3, our bold statement for the future of connected and sustainable mobility. It is scheduled to roll out of SAIC VOLKSWAGEN’s state-of-the-art production facility in Anting early in the next decade.

The bigger picture

What filtered through the whole event in Guangzhou was our clear brand purpose: emission-free mobility for all. With our goTOzero initiative, we have big aspirations for the Chinese market by 2025: make 25-35% of all models fully electric; produce 30% less waste; use 30% less energy and water per vehicle. 

I’ve had the honour of playing my part in all of this. Just seeing our new logo on new models is a thrill. A massive thank you to everyone who has helped so far – and especially to the team behind our latest event!

The New Volkswagen is gaining momentum… let’s enjoy the ride together!

Congratulations! But can someone tell me, what the new brand values of Volkswagen are? I only see new logos, colours and images.
