Unveiling My Project Management Methodology: Integrated Business Assets, Portfolio, Program and Project Management ?????

Dear Project Management Community,
I'm thrilled to share insights into my Project Management Methodology, influenced by GPCCAR, AACEI, PMI and Nigeria NLNG.
I learned to say 'Agile Development' or 'Agile Methodology' instead of 'Agile Project Management Methodology.' The latter seems aberrant, and 'Scrum Method' might be better than 'Scrum Methodology.' The term Lean Six Sigma Method can be better used than 'Six Sigma Methodology'; nothing like 'Six Sigma Project Management Methodology' and 'Lean Project Management Methodology.'
An example of a Project Management Methodology is the Total Cost Management Framework used by both the Guild of Project Control Compendium and Reference (GPCCAR) and AACEI, incorporating both Asset Life Cycle and Project Life Cycle. I used this for 2.5 years with Nigerian NLNG, developing schedules aligned with this every week. Credit goes to David Okoye PMP?, PSM for teaching me.
Asset Owner asset life cycle: identity, assess, select, define, execute, operate, dispose, and Contractor project life cycle: ideation, planning, execution, closure were perfectly integrated by the Guild of Project Controls Compendium and Reference (GPCCAR).
Combining the PMI Process Groups Initiation, Planning, Executing, Monitoring, and Closing (IPEMC) within the life cycles phases seems like a perfect methodology for managing projects.
While AACEI’s TCF stuck to the Deming Plan, Do, Check, and Act, the GPCCAR recognized the PMI’s Initiate, Plan, Execute, Monitor&Control and Close (IPEMC) at each phase.
The tailoring guidelines at the asset owner were quite clear by Nigeria NLNG:
Roadmap 0: Identify, Execute.
Roadmap 1: Identify, Define, Execute.
Roadmap 2: Identify, Select, Define, Execute.
Roadmap 3: Identify, Access, Select, Define, Execute.
The tailoring guidelines at the Contractor were also clear by #GeorgeNWOGU:
Roadmap 0: ideation, closure.
Roadmap 1: ideation, planning, closure.
Roadmap 2: ideation, planning, execution, closure.
Ideation involves tendering, conceptual studies and development of project charter/project contract while planning involves developing Project Execution Plan and Detail Business Case for defining Go/No Go Situations.
I have also developed more tailored guidelines for selecting the types of phases that will be Agile or Waterfall or Hybrid by the 5 Asset Classes based on business operations and usage:
1. Physical Asset
2. Financial Asset
3. Information Asset

4. Human Capital
5. Intangible Asset
Initiatives on 1 and 2 are better as waterfall while 3 to 5 can be waterfall, hybrid, or agile depending on several other factors. Combining Lean methods like Kanban with Agile methods such as Scrum is crucial offering a holistic approach to "Agile Methodology" in a single-stage or hybrid project context.
This roadmap perfectly aligns with Mounir Ajam 's definition of “Project Management Methodology.”
Dr. Paul Giammalvo pointed out that the failure of the PMBOK Guide and PMBOK Guide-Construction Extension 2016 was that it didn’t recognize the interface between the Asset Owner and Contractor, which is very vital for the success of any project.
Also, Oliver F. Lehmann, MSc, ACE, PMP also pointed this out as “Project Business,” which is what is experienced in this scenario. Project Managers with only PMI’s PMP, without real-world experience and skills, will find it difficult to be successful.
I mentioned some time ago that the concept of a “Project Execution Plan” used in several infrastructure and Oil and Gas Projects also inspires this Methodology and is widely used in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry. ????? This refined Methodology is Engr. George NWOGU’s “Integrated Business Assets, Portfolio, Program and Project Management”.
In the early stages of my career, memorization proved beneficial, exemplified by my approach to the #PMIFoundationalStandards. Yet, as I progressed, I recognized the folly of memorizing additional processes without crafting my customized methodology for job delivery. This clarifies my skepticism towards #PMIDisciplineAgileCertification and other Agile methods, given my proficiency in #Scrum and my personalized guidelines for tailoring. I remain dedicated to refining this methodology further, drawing from subsequent information and experiences in the future.
Wishing you success in your projects! ????
