A story of newborn triumphs?

In an NHS Trust in Northern England, the simple act of integrating IA and process orchestration completely transformed one midwife’s experience.?

Every day, this midwife would sit in a small office by herself. And every day, she would come into that room and type. In the first few weeks of a baby’s life, they undergo several important follow-up checks – including the notorious heel prick test. This midwife would have to sit at her computer for most of the day, copying all the newly received newborn test results from one system to another. She’d then print these and deliver that pile of letters to the team, who would then mail them to the parents. She did this every day – a qualified midwife, delivering papers instead of babies.?

The automation team asked her how they could help. When she explained what she did every day, the team knew exactly how they could help.??

The day the automation went live, the midwife came to work as usual – and the moment she stepped through the door, her eyes fell on the printer tray, which was full of paper containing all the data she used to have to spend all day typing out. She burst into tears.?
