Thoughts from Factory Care CEO Ignacio Garrido Fernandez
Deciding what kind of inspection, you need to do on your equipment and when, depends on several factors. Some of these factors are production criticality, safety, maintenance cost, quality, status, etc.?
Whenever you are implementing a new maintenance program or improving an old one, I would recommend you do a critical analysis of your facility equipment. Depending on your conclusions, you will figure out the different maintenance mix you will need to use on each machine. This includes the type of inspections and the frequency.
As a rule of thumb, I believe each asset should have at least a light inspection included on its preventive program. Light inspections cost very little and take minimal time, and you can save a ton of money by doing them.
Do you want to engage a fortune into predictive maintenance? Consider it your cheapest condition monitoring program, once you accomplish it, engage your team into more ambitious inspections.
