Recently, LinkedIn has undergone significant updates to its algorithm, resulting in changes that directly impact LinkedIn influencers.?
The platform's focus has shifted towards prioritising valuable knowledge, advice, and meaningful engagement. As a result, the days of viral content and selfies dominating the LinkedIn feed are gradually fading away.?
Instead, LinkedIn strives to create a more informative and relevant environment for professionals seeking to learn, grow, and connect.
LinkedIn's algorithm changes reflect the platform's response to user feedback and a desire to solve a problem. With a surge in activity and content shared on LinkedIn, users expressed dissatisfaction with irrelevant and low-value posts clogging their feeds.?
Consequently, LinkedIn refined its feed, making it more tailored to users' interests, professional networks, and aspirations.
For LinkedIn influencers, these algorithm changes bring both challenges and opportunities. Influencers need to adapt their strategies and align with LinkedIn's new priorities to remain in the limelight.?
This means focusing on providing valuable insights, establishing themselves as authoritative voices in their niche, fostering meaningful engagement, and adding a personal touch to their content.
With the changes in LinkedIn's algorithm, LinkedIn influencers will likely be affected in several ways. Here are some insights on how the algorithm changes may impact LinkedIn influencers and what they can do to stay in the limelight:
Focus on providing valuable knowledge and advice: LinkedIn now prioritises posts that share "knowledge and advice" throughout the platform.?
A LinkedIn influencer must create content that offers valuable insights, industry expertise, and actionable advice. By sharing valuable knowledge, you increase the chances of your posts being shown to a wider audience, even those who don't currently follow you.
Build a distinct audience: LinkedIn's algorithm considers a post's relevance to a specific audience. Identify and target your content to a distinct audience within your niche to maximise your reach. Tailor your content to resonate with their interests, challenges, and needs. Understanding your target audience will help you create content that is more likely to be seen by the right people.
Establish yourself as an authority: LinkedIn evaluates not only the value of your posts but also your expertise and authority in the subject area. To maintain visibility, consistently demonstrate your knowledge and experience in your core subject area. Develop a personal brand showcasing your expertise, and share insights highlighting your unique qualifications. This will help LinkedIn recognise you as a trusted authority and show your content to relevant users.

Encourage meaningful comments and engagement: The algorithm now rewards posts that receive "meaningful comments" rather than empty or superficial engagement. As an influencer, foster engagement by creating content that sparks genuine conversations and discussions. Responding to comments on your posts also signals to the algorithm that your content is engaging and valuable. Encourage your followers to share their thoughts, ask questions, and contribute meaningfully to the conversation.
Add a personal perspective: LinkedIn values posts that offer a unique perspective or insights from the author. When creating content, incorporate your own experiences, anecdotes, or viewpoints. Adding a personal touch to your posts allows your audience to connect with you on a deeper level and makes your content more memorable and shareable.
Stay consistent and active: Consistency is key on LinkedIn. Regularly post high-quality content that aligns with your expertise and resonates with your audience. Aim for a consistent posting schedule and maintain an active presence by engaging with other users' content, participating in relevant discussions, and sharing valuable resources. Being consistently active helps you stay on top of people's feeds and reinforces your visibility as an influencer.
Leverage other LinkedIn features: LinkedIn offers various features to increase your visibility and engagement. Explore options like LinkedIn Live, LinkedIn articles, and LinkedIn Stories to diversify your content formats and engage with your audience differently. Experiment with video content, infographics, or thought-provoking articles to stand out and capture your followers' attention.
We all know that building influence on LinkedIn is a long-term effort. Focusing on providing value, building relationships, and staying authentic in your interactions is crucial. By adapting to the algorithm changes and consistently delivering high-quality content, one can maintain and grow your influence on LinkedIn.

1 年Do you have any insight on the impact for company pages? We see a huge drop in views. Reading your article we do everything right, except it's a company page. These are non-commercial pages that share valuable and relevant knowledge for a specific audience without a focus on going viral. Is there an inherent preference for personal posts instead of 'company' posts and is this preference further enforced with the current algorithm update? Relevant for us when discussing how to deal with this. Have tried to find information about this, but can't find anything yet. Thanks in advance!
