Unveiling the Beauty and Functionality of Glass Facades

What is a Glass Facade?

A glass facade is a stunning architectural innovation that wraps buildings in a veil of glass, merging the exterior with the interior. These facades not only enhance a building's aesthetic appeal but also offer advanced features like insulation, energy efficiency, and solar control.

Types of Glass Facades

From curtain wall systems to structural glazing, each type of glass facade serves a unique purpose. For example, double-skin facades offer superior thermal and acoustic performance, while spider glazing systems allow for creative architectural designs.

Types of Glass Used

Different types of glass are used in facade construction, each with specific benefits:

  • Laminated Glass: Offers enhanced security by holding shards together upon breakage.
  • Insulated Glass Units (IGUs): Improves energy efficiency and temperature control.
  • Low-E Glass: Reflects infrared radiation, reducing heating and cooling needs.
  • Tempered Glass: Strong and safe, ideal for high-stress environments.
  • Reflective Glass: Controls sunlight and adds privacy.
  • Fritted Glass: Features a ceramic pattern for aesthetic and functional benefits.
  • Tinted Glass: Reduces brightness and regulates temperature.

TPRS Glass you looking at third party labs for tests on GFRC ? We can determine limit of proportionality which is also known as Yield Strength. It measures the initial cracking of the cement paste. We can also determine Modulus of Elasticity and Modulus of Rupture. It is essential to measure when concrete physically breaks at the maximum Flexural stress which can be sustained. These excerpts are taken from ASTM C947.
