THE UNUSUAL FUNERAL GUEST

It was a strange phenomenon

The unexpected happened at Bethany

It was meant to be a house of mourning

The mourners(both fake and real) were already gathered

Lazarus had been dead for four(4) days

It was a hopeless situation

It was at this moment that the strange guest entered

?

He was expected to join the wailing party, but he did something different

He ministered(spoke) to the situation

He analysed the situation and declared from the perspective of Heaven

One may even conclude that he spoke out of point

Some may have thought he was deluded

He appeared not to be in touch with reality

This is because Faith is not realistic

He wasn’t the typical funeral guest

If he were, these sayings wouldn’t have been attributed to him

• John 11;23; Jesus said to her, “ Your brother will rise again”
• John 11:25-26: "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?'"
• John 11:34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?”
• John 11:40: "Jesus said to her, 'Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?'"
• ?John 11:41-42: And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, 'Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.'"?
• John 11:43-44: "Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!' And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, 'Lose him, and let him go.'"
• No one speaks like this around the tomb. This is not the typical condolence behaviour. The usual thing is to wail, moan and condole

But he was different

He saw the end from the beginning

He saw the finished work

This wasn’t his first time, he was the one that once stopped a funeral procession to raise the only son of a widow.

He also once sent out the wailers from the house of Jairus so he could raise the 12-year-old daughter from the dead. 'Talitha cummi', he said, and the dead girl jerked back to life.

Do not be the typical funeral guest who conforms to the norm

Jesus did otherwise

Your perspective determines your confession

See from the perspective of Heaven and confess accordingly

And as he is in this world, so are we(1 John 3:17)

We follow the footsteps of the master

2nd Corinthians 4:13

But since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written “I believed and therefore I spoke”’ we also believe and therefore speak

The world is ruled by words and faith is voice-activated

Speak life!
