So, what happens when people who have never done your job try to swoop in and make changes without your input, knowledge, experience or advice? They bring you self-checkout registers in abundance and now we have millions of untrained, unpaid cashiers running throughout the stores.??
Gone are the days of experienced, professional, courteous cashiers in abundance.? Nope, most have been replaced by computers…and the computers are not really up to the task.? Over the last 10-20 years, the customer has become the cashier.? The responsibility has been thrust upon them without proper training and without compensation.? Did we forget that the job of cashier requires training?

I am always for humans over technology, so I’ll ask the following questions of the current technology:
I could list another 10 bullet points.? The greater point is that the technology does not deliver the same results as well trained cashiers in its current form.? If you want to have a go at creating better alternatives, start with asking the cashiers that provide the exceptional shopping experiences that your customers expect their opinions.
