The Untapped Traffic Source: Why Your Business DOES Belong on Pinterest
"It won't work for my niche." I hear this phrase all the time from business owners who've written off Pinterest as a platform only for crafts and recipes.?
This belief could be costing your business THOUSANDS in missed opportunities.
The problem I've been seeing is that many online entrepreneurs dismiss Pinterest because they think their niche is too specialized, too corporate, or too "boring" for the platform.?
They're stuck believing Pinterest is exclusively for wedding planning, home decor, and recipe sharing.?
This misconception is preventing them from tapping into Pinterest's powerful search engine capabilities and its 500+ million active users.
I want to introduce you to one of my clients, we'll call her Beth.?
She ran a B2B coaching and consulting business, and was convinced Pinterest would be a waste of her time.?
"My target audience isn't on Pinterest," she once told me.
?"Nobody's searching for business systems and coaching solutions in between their DIY projects."?
Beth was struggling to generate consistent traffic to her website, relying heavily on Social Media and paid ads that were becoming increasingly expensive and unpredictable.
As a Pinterest and SEO strategist who helps online entrepreneurs drive targeted traffic to their businesses, this is something I see all the time with my clients.?
The assumption that certain niches don't belong on Pinterest stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of how the platform actually works.?
Pinterest isn't social media - it's a visual search engine where people are actively looking for a solution to their problem.
Like many of my clients, I too felt that there had to be a better way to market my business outside of posting on social media.?
I was fed up with the endless hamster wheel of social media content creation and disappearing reach.?
That's why when I discovered Pinterest's true power as a search engine, capable of driving targeted traffic to any business model, it became a mission to help my clients leverage that power too.
Beth's case was particularly interesting because it challenged the conventional wisdom about Pinterest's limitations.
Through strategic Pinterest optimization and content planning, Beth's coaching and consulting content started appearing in search results for business owners seeking those solutions.?
Within a few months, her website traffic noticeably increased, with visitors spending more time on her site - quality traffic that converted into leads.
I want the same for YOU!!!
This is exactly what I do for my clients . . . from setting up their entire Pinterest account, creating and scheduling pins, managing and optimizing their entire sales funnel to consulting or coaching their team how to do it. The problems are the same . . .?
I even went out to ask some amazing business owners in my network their thoughts on Pinterest for their businesses.
I asked them each this question:
“Pinterest is a targeted traffic source for businesses, bringing you new potential leads who are actively searching for the solution your business provides.
Knowing this, what benefits do you see from leveraging Pinterest to bring more people to your products, services, or email list?”
Sarah Cooper - LinkedIn Visibility & Lead Generation - That’s a really interesting point - I’d never thought about the fact that posts on Pinterest are then searchable for a much longer period of time than say LinkedIn?
Keri Lappi - Board Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, High Performance Coach - I love to use Pinterest to search for categories of recipes (Paleo, whole 30, gluten free, etc.) for myself and my clients. I also often save and share my favorites and it makes it easy to have great resources for my clients and myself!
Deborah O'Brien - Equine Professional, Whole Person Certified Professional Coach - Being primarily in service based industries (equine services and life coaching) I have not considered Pinterest a platform for marketing. My target audience is local for equine services. My coaching service is new, and I could see potential in marketing on Pinterest as I can be global with what I have to offer.?
Pinterest being visually based could help grab my target audience's attention, and then link them straight to my website for booking services or further information.?
I feel that Pinterest is saturated with content, and it would take strategy and learning how to stand out in the market to gain traffic to my content and secure paying clientele.
Amber Hansel - Introvert Confidence Coach | Lead Generation & Engagement Strategist - I currently use Pinterest to drive traffic to my blog and just started my podcast. I find that it is a low pressure way to bring in leads that has sustainability as it is more of a search engine where your content has longer staying power then on social media.
Nicole Kepic - Sales Copywriter - sales page, email, and website copy - I see Pinterest as being a great tool to expand my reach and get my offers in front of more people. And not just ANY people, but people who are actively looking for the solution(s) I provide. I also see it being more hands-off (and less draining!) than social media.

More traffic to my blog posts and digital shop, which will translate into 2) more sales, and 3) greater visibility, and 4) higher rankings on other search engines such as Google.
This will hugely increase the know-like-trust factor that every online entrepreneur craves and needs to be successful in business. Oh, and it will definitely boost your authority!
Based on the trends I’m seeing (both on Pinterest and on other platforms), and what I’m hearing from others in my network like you, I wanted to share this!
You might be questioning at this point, what Pinterest could do for your business, and where the opportunities are for your own business growth using Pinterest.
Great!
Here are 3 questions I want you to ask yourself to help you ensure that your business isn’t missing out on the additional source of targeted traffic and leads that Pinterest will bring you
Question 1: (Ask Yourself) → What untapped opportunities might you be missing by assuming your target audience isn't actively searching on Pinterest?
It’s important because, if you don’t, you’re missing the chance to put your business in front of people who are ready to take action.
It’s kind of like: Opening a store in a busy shopping mall but keeping your doors locked and lights off. People who are actively looking to buy what you sell are walking right past your business, money in hand, but they can't see that you exist to solve their problems.
Question 2: (Ask Yourself) → How could your business benefit from a platform where content maintains its visibility for months or years, unlike the 24-hour lifecycle of social media posts?
It’s important because, if you don’t, you’re destined to stay stuck at the mercy of the ever declining reach of social media.? To stay stuck on the content hamster wheel.
It’s kind of like: Building sandcastles at the beach versus constructing a lighthouse. With social media, you're constantly building sandcastles that get washed away with each tide, forcing you to start fresh every day. But Pinterest is like a lighthouse—once built, it stands firm for years, guiding ships (your ideal customers) to shore night after night with minimal maintenance, while the sandcastle builders exhaust themselves with repetitive work that disappears almost instantly.
Question 3: (Ask Yourself) → What would it mean for your business if you could attract qualified leads while you sleep, without constantly creating new content?
It’s important because, if you don’t, you’re missing out of the power of having a qualified person find you and take those initial steps to work with you MONTHS after publishing a pin on Pinterest.
It’s kind of like: Having a sales team that works 24/7/365 without vacation days, sick leave, or salary increases. While you're sleeping, spending time with family, or focusing on other aspects of your business, your Pinterest content is actively connecting with potential customers who are searching for exactly what you offer—and guiding them straight to your digital doorstep.
These questions highlight a crucial mindset shift needed in how we view Pinterest as a marketing platform.?
The platform's search engine capabilities make it more similar to Google than to Instagram or Facebook, opening up possibilities for virtually any niche to find its audience.
Moving forward, it's essential to understand that success on Pinterest isn't about fitting into traditional Pinterest categories - it's about understanding how your target audience searches for solutions to their problems, regardless of your niche.?
Beth's story shows that even the most "un-pinteresting" niches can thrive when approached with the right strategy.
To dive deeper into these questions and discover practical solutions for leveraging Pinterest in your specific niche, take the next step and join my email list.?
Once you're on the list, you can ask me anything about Pinterest for your business, and start building a sustainable traffic strategy for your business.

1 周Love this Jen Dys! This is exactly why I love creating evergreen systems for my clients! Pinterest is the perfect example of how AUTOMATION can transform your marketing efforts. While everyone's chasing daily content creation on traditional social platforms, Pinterest keeps working for you 24/7 - just like the automated email sequences I set up for my clients. Many of my clients initially think 'this won't work for me' about email automation too! They believe they need to constantly create fresh content to stay relevant, which is exactly the content treadmill you're describing. But once they see leads coming in while they're at the beach or asleep, they become believers. The beauty of Pinterest (like automated email systems) is that you do the work ONCE, and it continues delivering results for years. This is the freedom-filled business model I help create for coaches and consultants. Love seeing this approach validated in another channel! ??
