Is this an untapped talent pool?
War on talent, the great resignation and so on, we have been hearing these phrases for the last 24 month. However amid the growing demand for computer scientists and data analysts, there is an untapped talent pool in neurodiverse candidates. Despite recent layoffs in tech and finance, the overall demand for skilled professionals in fields like computer science and data analysis continues to rise, surpassing the number of qualified graduates available.
Tech and finance companies are constantly adapting to meet the changing market demands, and the need for high-quality talent remains strong. This creates an opportunity for recruiters to rethink their approach to candidate engagement and selection. In this competitive hiring environment, recruiters are seeking innovative strategies to gain an edge in attracting highly skilled individuals and accessing underutilized talent pools.
Neurodiverse candidates, who possess atypical neurological development or differences in brain functions, represent a significant portion of the workforce, estimated at around 15%. However, traditional selection processes often overlook them, causing recruiters to miss out on a valuable supply of talent with unique skills.
Many recruitment firms still prioritize generalized skills, such as communication, teamwork, and networking, when evaluating candidates. While these skills are undoubtedly valuable, an excessive focus on them can unintentionally exclude neurodiverse candidates who possess specialized skills.
Here at eMagine we are now implementing new methods and innovative technologies to create a more inclusive and personalized assessment process, aimed at attracting a wider range of candidates, including those with neurodiverse backgrounds.
