An untapped potential? Reintegration of ex-combatants through mine action in Colombia

Academic scholarship and international experience have identified the potential synergy between the mine action and disarmament, demobilisation, and reintegration (DDR) programmes. In Colombia, the 2016 comprehensive peace agreement recognised mine action as viable a route for the reintegration of ex-combatants, the reparation of victims, and reconciliation between the parties to the conflict.

This report, written for the Colombian Reintegration Agency (ARN) in early 2019, discusses the potential benefits and challenges of reintegrating ex-combatants through mine action in Colombia.
