Unstuck Yourself With these Tiny (but Significant) Ideas

Hey Fam!

Happy New Month! Ok almost! I am so excited about Just Being Joyous in June, that I am fast-tracking my being there. Or maybe I am joyfully overwhelmed that I made it through May! In case you missed it, my theme for May was Magic every damn day. Little did I know that as soon as May 1st, I would also be adding mourning to it.

And so the challenge began. Can one live peacefully both in Magic and Mourning? Can one experience Joy and Sorrow and still be grounded? The new book I am currently reading Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael Sing is reminding me that YES WE CAN!

The last 30 days have also powerfully reminded me that it’s the small decisions and tiny actions we take that eventually lead to significant transformation. Living through these contrasts of light and darkness felt like an impossible goal on May 1st, but today? Feels like I flew on an angel's wings.

First I had to slow down and allow more blank spaces into my days. Then I adopted pursuing tiny magical activities every day. 30 minutes of comedy (laughter hurt no one), read 3 books by reading 20 minutes every day (apart from one day when I read Just Hit Send back to back), cut my meditation to 15 minutes only, slept more, had more doing nothing spaces, connected with one amazing human every week, watched a show on magic and mystery every other day and other tiny little things.

These tiny actions allowed me to tune in more and be conscious of the thoughts and emotions I was sailing through at every moment. This awareness helped me bring myself back to groundedness when my mind sailed to rocky seas and to appreciate more the little blessings hidden in the mundane.

Einstein once said, “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it earns it. He who doesn't pays it.

If you are into financial management and investments you probably know about the compound effect more than I do.

Translated to our daily lives the compound effect is the ability to reap huge rewards as a result of small intentional decisions and actions that sometimes feel insignificant but eventually have a big impact on our lives.

In his book The Compound Effect, Daren Hardy Summarizes this as below

Choices + Behavior + Habits + Time = Compound Effect

You can apply this approach in every area of your life. But let's focus on your career for now. Take some time to audit yourself and find out how your choices, behaviors, and habits over time have curated the experience you are having in your career.

  1. What tiny choices are having a depreciating impact on your career and you need to let them go?
  2. What small habits and behaviors have you accumulated and entertained over the years, are getting in the way of your success?
  3. What tiny behaviors and habits do you need to pick up in this new month in order to bring small but eventually significant changes in your career?
  4. And finally on time, what if you set aside 30 minutes every day to work towards a career goal you have for the next 30 days?

Wherever you are today in your career is a cumulative result of every decision and action you've taken so far. I can guarantee you the change you are seeking is not disguised in some magic pill, but in the small shifts, you choose to embody moving forward.

May your June be filled with Joyous tiny actions!

Sending you infinite Love & Light

M
