Unstuck: What the mind has to do with everything

Unstuck: What the mind has to do with everything

Two days ago, I celebrated my 22nd birthday, but the real gift came earlier—an experience that reshaped my perspective significantly. I call it a mind-altering experience because my thought process underwent a profound realignment and I know for certain that my mindset was reconfigured. This shift inspired a concept I now call 'The Rebirth,' symbolizing a renewed outlook and commitment. Essentially, an upgrade.

As a Christian, I was introduced to the concept of being 'born again'—believing and accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. This spiritual rebirth requires relinquishing our old ways, habits, and desires that conflict with our new identity. A crucial part of this journey is the ongoing process of renewing our minds to enable us fully embody and enjoy our new status.

The purpose of this renewal is so that your mind is trained to reconcile with your new reality. Just like a slave adopted into royalty, whose mindset must align to their new status to fully embody the royal identity. So, as I pondered the rebirth, I saw the disparity between my proclamations and self-perception. Despite claiming to be a champion, I struggled to see myself as one. I longed for change but never really prepared for it. I wasted time wanting to be, without working to be. And then, scales fell off my eyes.

You see, many of us are like this, and it's no surprise we find ourselves stuck. The craziest part is that it all begins in the mind. Our mindset is the foundation of everything. What have you conditioned your mind to believe? Do you think certain opportunities are out of your reach? And no, this is totally different from protecting your focus from distractions, but something deeper. Some people genuinely believe they're not cut out for certain paths or positions. This is a life-crippling mindset.

The likes of Napoleon Hill and other legendary achievers understood the paramount importance of training their minds. History shows that every great success was fueled by a robust belief system. So, I ask again: what is your belief system like? Not everyone grasps this initially, but with careful reflection, they'll see the writing on the wall. To wrap up, I leave you with this: "Blatantly refuse to be your own limitation!"

?? To your becoming,

Dorcas Rotimi, PT .
