Unstuck - Overcoming past trauma and self-limiting behaviours

What Holds Us Back?

?

In a word, “Ourselves”, but it is highly unlikely that you currently understand why.? One absolute is that you and every other person on earth did not come into this world with a doubt.? Not one.? All doubts are learned and created from past experience.?

These doubts over time fill our thoughts, control our actions and steal away our potential.? Science has proven that the vast majority of adults have 90% of the same thoughts they had the day before and so it stands to reason why so many feel stuck.?

How Are Behaviours Created??

?

Both positive and negative behaviours are created through exactly the same process.? This process occurs over a lifetime as we take in information in various ways such as through personal experience, social media, communication with others, the news, political views and more.? We in effect become ‘the frog in the pot of psychological imprinting’.?

?

Information ends up being stored in the subconscious mind in separate neural nets (clusters of brain cells or neurons held together by synapses that hold the information and store the memory).? Think of the storage of the information or memory as a file folder.? The more information that we put into the file, the more information that is available and the larger and more dominant it becomes.?

?

It is essential to know that from a scientific perspective every thought we have and every action we take, in a millisecond we go inside the subconscious mind, open the relative file from past experience (typically the most dominant file on that topic) and then make choices based on the information in the file.? Keep in mind much of the information stored does not have to be true and very often is not. ?Fear of flying is one of the great lies a vast number of people have become conditioned to believe.? ?

This process is invaluable for knowledge and skill development when we access information that allows us to do our job, take care of our children, drive a car or make our world-famous lasagna from scratch. This exact same process however is also what holds us back.? Accessing negative information prevents us from choosing to move forward, to believe in ourselves, to be filled with confidence and to know we are literally unlimited.?

What’s Real and What’s Not?

?

Your ability to recall information from the past is real. The chemical compounds produced when you access a memory that courses throughout your body, enters the walls of billions of cell receptors and cause a physiological response is also real.? When this process ensues, there is no question it makes you feel as though it’s happening again or will likely happen again.?

?

What is not real?? Here is the critical element in all of this.? If you get this.? If you really get this and make the decision to take this information and do the work to overcome it, your life will change forever.?

Read this slowly.?

The information accessed from past negative experience that tells you to stop has NOTHING to do with what you were doing or thinking in the moment”

?

Think about this very clearly.? The information you access that instructs you to stop is a nothing more than a ghost.? It’s a hologram of a memory of an experience from days or months or years in the past that has nothing to do with this moment in time.?

?

When you get this and begin to act on the science of how to reverse how it is impacting you, everything will begin to change. ?Past traumas will begin to lose their power over you.? You will begin to judge the moment by the moment, the client by the client, the relationship by the relationship, the economy by the economy, the day by the day and the opportunity for just what it is.? An opportunity completely detached from anything that has happened in the past.

The magic of all achievement will stem from this scientifically proven approach.?

“Set the goal, find out what is necessary to achieve it, begin to invest in the activity and don’t stop”.

Do this and you will succeed every time.? Creating the mindset to do this is the goal.?

What Happens if I Continue to Focus on Past Trauma and Challenges?

?

This is where There-Apy differs from most other approaches of counselling.? Most approaches continue to discuss the events of past challenges and struggles in ongoing sessions and discussions.? If you find this works, I encourage anyone to pursue whatever works for them.

?

In all my study and experience however, I have learned that if we continue to focus on the past challenge or trauma, we continue to input more information into the file.? Again, from a scientifically proven perspective, the more often the file is accessed, and more information goes into the file, the more dominant the file becomes and the more difficult it is to move beyond it.? The experience that was the thorn from the past will continue to grow, maintain dominance and hold you back.?

?

I need to be clear that this is not an approach where you are to pretend that issues from your past did not happen but rather acknowledge them and see them for what they are.? A hologram of a memory of an experience that can no longer touch you.? To reclaim your true self, you need to develop the skill to let go and allow the memory to fade, replacing it with a new vision of a life of unlimited potential.

Knowledge is the Beginning of Freedom

?

Now that you have learned a baseline of information about the science and understand the process you can’t unlearn it.? “Don’t see an elephant”? Now that you know it, is possible to create a pathway towards a mindset where you finally can “Stop Stopping”, your life can truly change.? Know that all of the goals you have set aside in the past that you didn’t believe were possible are now back on the table and within your reach.?? ?

?

Does change come about in a day?? No.? Is it possible to make major changes in your life in a few weeks and months?? Without question.

What Is The Process?

?

It starts with you and your decision and commitment to becoming unstuck.? The first step of the process is to set up a no-cost meeting to discuss where you are, where you want to be and how the sessions and process works. There is no long-term commitment and sessions are scheduled one at a time.? Continuing or stopping is completely your decision.

?

Once we begin working together, we will mutually decide on times and dates that work the best for us both.? A baseline of goals and outcomes will be determined.? All sessions are remote through video conference (or phone if you prefer) and a complete set of notes of everything we cover will be provided.

?

Select scientifically proven exercises and action steps will be prescribed based on a determination of needs and your goals and growth will be monitored.

?

No one is stuck.? When I left high school at age 16 because I was homeless, my guidance counsellor Mr. Gretziner stopped me on the way out the door and said,

?

“I want you to know this.? That where you are now has nothing to do with where you can go"

?

I have learned over a lifetime that he was right then.? Not just for me but for all of us.? For you.
