My recent post on platforms unearthed a debate within a debate: an intense, opinionated, and almost stressed reaction to one of the most critical questions of our time: Why is the pace of AI evolution increasing so relentlessly?
To answer this, let me borrow from a recent post by Sam Altman, where he explains the fundamental disruptive power of AI through three observations. These observations, when combined, paint a compelling picture of why AI is not just advancing - it’s transforming the way businesses think about investment, value, and cost.
Altman’s Three Observations on AI’s Disruptive Power
1?. The More You Invest, the Smarter AI gets – The relationship between investment and intelligence is linear. More resources into AI models lead to smarter outputs. That’s straightforward enough.
2?. The More Intelligent AI Becomes, the More Value It Creates – However, the returns on AI-driven intelligence are exponential. A small increase in intelligence leads to a disproportionate increase in its ability to generate value. This shifts the logic of AI investment - companies that double down on AI early will see exponentially greater rewards than those taking a wait-and-see approach.
3?. The Cost of AI Access Is Plummeting – At the same time, AI model access costs are in freefall, dropping at a 10x rate annually. The democratisation of powerful AI means that what was once only available to large enterprises is now within reach of startups and individuals. This radically lowers the barrier to entry for businesses to integrate AI into their operations.

Put these three forces together, and we can better understand the disruptive transformation happening right in front of us.
The Question for Leaders: Are You Ready to Ride the Curve?
For businesses, executives and founders, the AI disruption is not a distant concept, it is happening now. The real strategic question is not whether AI will change the way we work and compete; it’s whether we are prepared to ride the exponential curve, ‘make magic’ in our ventures (and for our investors…) or be left behind.
The actors that embrace AI-driven investment, adaptability, and a willingness to reimagine their industries will be the ones defining the future.
What’s your move?
