[Unsponsored] Content
I read an interesting article the other day,
About a solar power revolution underway.
How do I get this for my home, I wondered,
When I suddenly realised the content was sponsored!
Now how do I know if I should believe what I read,
Afterall the writer got paid for what he said.
And then declared it's "sponsored" in a tiny font,
So it's up to you to decide what you want.
That just blurs all kinds of lines,
What's real, what's paid, we have to look for signs?
Remember when news was just news?
To believe or not to, you didn't have to choose?
How do they decide anyway, what to print?
Anything that pays, is that the hint?
If that's the case, then here's my request,
Please print this - Preeti is the best.
I'll pay well, I swear to you,
Just slip it in subtly, like it's nothing new.
And don't forget the most important part,
Mention that it's "sponsored", don't take it to heart.
If someone complains that this isn't news,
Just tell them, I "sponsored" these views .
After all, in a world where half the news is fake,
One more fake news won't make or break.
And besides, I know I am the best,
Paying to get this said just made me look more earnest.
That's what marketers everywhere say,
Sponsored content is the next big play.
All I can say is this, my friend,
When you read news, don't miss the tiny fonts at the end.
Ok, now enough of this, I must get back
To finding myself that solar light pack.
