The Unspoken Truth - Business is Messy

The Unspoken Truth - Business is Messy

In many ways, as a business leader, you're a hero.

You strategize and adapt, put out fires, pivot when needed and solve problems all day long.

But all of the work and mental exertion is taxing.

The mental and emotional weight that comes along with all of the focus and energy required to operate a business can leave you exhausted at the end of each day.

I applaud you.

I also get to talk to a lot of business leaders like you and there's not enough time in the day to get it all done. And as a result, many things are left undone on a regular basis because there's not enough of you to go around. Things get neglected, like the accounting, health, relationships or your mental well being.

It's consistent with the role of a business leader, but it doesn't have to be.

When someone asks "How is business?" the default response is "Its good!" You have to tell customers, employees, vendors, bankers, your spouse, friends and others you've got this!

But what if it's not "all good"?

Who can you actually be honest with when you're way behind, when it takes all you've got, or when all the demands add up to feel way over your head?

I'm a CPA. I work with business owners everyday, in the details, facing the challenges right along with them. I get it, I see the mess and I love getting in there right along side you and support you to make sense of the money and the mental side.

I'll start sharing more of my story and how I evolved into this role, one very different than most accountants you've ever met. I hope you'll join me as I tell my story, and find common aspects in your own journey and if we are privilaged enough to work together, I hope you find a friend along the business and life journey we are both on.

For now here's the quick teaser.

Although I'm a CPA, I don't do taxes, bookkeeping, audits or GAAP financial statements.

I've found that my industry gets caught up in the mess right along with you and they produce reports that serve outside parties (IRS, bank, investors), but often neglect the ones who could benefit from the information the most, the owners and management teams.

With a business model that requires billing hours and fighting the messes they encounter, most accountants are stuck in the same trap right along with you!

With their standard business model, they don't have time to look beyond the reports they create to help you strategically. I don't discount the services of my fellow accountants, but I've found there is a gap of service that clients are yearning for. I've also found many clients who have been disappointed by the lack of response, service, or strategic insight they were hoping to find with their financial professional.

I specifically started a finance company unlike everyone else. I did it because I was not willing to take the offers from companies after I had realized new ways of doing things while I lived out of the USA for 5 years. I knew there had to be a better way. It hasn't been easy to blaze a new trail, but I'm excited to keep sharing that story with you in my next posts.

If you have a business money or mental mess you'd like help to untangle, I invite you to reach out. Here's a link to my calendar so we can connect.
