Throughout my life, I’ve been on a journey of transformation, one that has reshaped not only my daily habits, my perspective on well-being and longevity, but also my way of seeing and thinking about life.
I was 17 years old when I embraced the DeRose Method. At that time, my life mirrored the common narrative of a teenager: I didn't care about what I ate, and I didn't think about self-knowledge. Starting college was my priority, and anything else was put on the backburner. Fortunately, I came across the DeRose Method, a school of behavioral reeducation, and I was curious enough to attend. Learning to care about my habits from such a young age helped shape who I am today. I want to show you how you can predict your future just by becoming aware of the lives of those closest to you.
The Path Before Change
Reflecting on my life before the DeRose Method, I realized that it was based on conventional achievements and social references, which is not unusual for a teenager. Although my habits were not drastically detrimental, they weren't aligned with a future of wellness. I was a picky eater and I used to worry so much about doing everything perfectly and pleasing everyone that I had a few episodes of panic attacks.
At that time, I wasn't thinking about longevity. However, when I started to learn how our habits affect our future, I saw the future mapped out in the lives of older family members and potential coworkers. I can't say it was all bad, but there were chronic conditions that seemed almost inevitable with age, such as overweight, burnout, hypertension, diabetes, and a general decline in mental agility. I realized that without change, my journey would likely follow this well-worn path.
The DeRose Method: A Catalyst for Change
The DeRose Method is a comprehensive lifestyle approach, with its roots in enhancing physical, emotional, and mental well-being, offered a new lens through which to view life. It wasn't just about changing one aspect of my life but transforming it by developing self-knowledge in every aspect.
Embracing the DeRose Method was a process of metamorphosis that is still ongoing. Eating took on a new meaning; it became about nourishing the body with what it truly needs, leading me to embrace a more plant-based diet rich in nutrients, colors, and flavors. I learned that I could use my curiosity and creativity to enjoy a more diverse and pleasurable meal. Physical activity became a joy rather than a chore, seamlessly integrated into my routine through the method's practices, which improved my strength, flexibility, and resilience.
Perhaps most significantly, the method's focus on mindfulness boosted my emotional management and opened up new avenues for managing stress and enhancing mental performance. Techniques for respiratory training, deep relaxation, emotional reprogramming, concentration, and meditation became tools not just for personal growth but for fostering a state of well-being that radiates into every aspect of life.
I heard from friends, coworkers, family, and even people I had just met that I lived life lightly. That was how I learned to see life through Professor DeRose's mentoring.

I won't lie and say that my life has always been a walk in the park. I have faced many challenges, and there have been times when I couldn't see things so lightly. But I've always found my way back to appreciating the little things and achievements and taking an optimistic view of what lies ahead. That is my essence, and the DeRose Method gave me the tools to stay aware of it.
A Glimpse into an Alternate Reality
Had I not embarked on this journey of transformation, I cannot envision an alternate reality. That is because my changes have also influenced the habits of those closest to me. So the people who could have influenced me to have bad habits were also thinking more about what to eat, how to move their bodies, how to interact with others, and how to manage their emotions.
Of course, not all the changes were solely because of the DeRose Method. As Professor DeRose says, people who enjoy the DeRose Method and make it a lifestyle are those who are already attuned to the wonder of constant learning and evolving. What I can envision is that I probably wouldn't have made as many changes without the training and mindset that this method provides. It keeps the mind open to all possibilities and encourages taking risks, even in the face of fear.
So here I am, with my husband and son, in a second move to a third different country, starting a new life, because we want to experience life's richness and tap into it deeply. We didn't let ourselves be overshadowed by the acceptance of mediocrity in wealth and happiness.
The Power of Prediction and Transformation
Our futures are often predictable, not through mysticism, but through the observation of those who have walked before us. The wealth and vitality of our older family members and colleagues can offer a window into our potential future, should we continue down the path of least resistance.
However, this foresight is not a sentence but an opportunity—an opportunity to rewrite the script of our lives, to choose a path less traveled that leads to a future of radiance and vitality. Through the DeRose Method, I have not only changed my habits but have also embarked on a journey of continuous transformation, one that I am now passionate about sharing with others.
This journey has taught me that change is not just possible; it is imperative for anyone seeking a life of fulfillment and longevity. It is a testament to the fact that when we align our habits with our highest aspirations for wealth and well-being, we unlock the potential to transform not only our own lives but also inspire those around us to embark on their own journeys of transformation.
As I continue to share my experience and the principles of the DeRose Method, my hope is to ignite a spark in others. I want to show that with awareness, dedication, and the right tools, transforming our future is within our grasp. Let us not be passive observers of our fate but active architects of our destiny.
