Unseen Observers: The Hidden Champions of Our Career Path

Unseen Observers: The Hidden Champions of Our Career Path

Ever feel like you're just going through the motions at work, wondering if anyone actually notices the hard work you put in?

I had a lightbulb moment last month after participating in a panel with two super inspiring ladies, Tracey McCants Lewis and Myah Moore Irick, ChFC? . Tracy, one of the speakers, dropped a truth bomb that's been on my mind ever since:

"People are always watching."

This isn't about keeping tabs on you. Tracy's point was that, even when we think our efforts are too small to matter, there's always someone paying attention. Someone who sees your hard work, who's cheering you on from the sidelines, and who might just be looking for the perfect moment to help you shine even brighter.

This idea really makes you think, doesn't it? It shows that the little things we do every day at work are actually big deals to someone watching. It's a reminder that we're not invisible cogs in a machine. We're key players making moves that others see and appreciate.

So, What Does This Mean for Us?

  • Beyond the Review: Sure, performance reviews are important, but they don't see everything. Your everyday actions, like helping out a team member or coming up with a smart idea, speak volumes about your real impact.
  • Be a Value Adder: It's all about making things better around you, whether that's through being a great teammate, improving how things are done, or just making the office a nicer place to be. That's the stuff that gets noticed.
  • Act Like You're Already There: Want to climb up the career ladder? Start showing off those leadership skills now, not just when you get the promotion. It's about proving you can handle the next step up by taking initiative and being someone people can rely on.

Embrace Being in the Spotlight

Realizing people are watching and rooting for us changes the game. It means showing up every day as our best selves, not because we feel like we're being watched, but because we know our worth and the impact we can have. Tracy's insight is a wake-up call that we have a silent cheer squad, waiting for the chance to see us succeed even more.

The Big Picture

So, next time you're at work, remember: your actions are making waves. The little things you do are actually big things to someone watching. Keep pushing, keep shining, and remember, someone out there sees your effort and is ready to help you jump to that next big thing.

In this journey, let's keep adding our special touch to our work, confident in the knowledge that we're not just doing our jobs—we're making an impact, seen and unseen. And who knows? That impact might just be your ticket to your next big adventure.

Let's rock this, knowing we're being watched, appreciated, and supported every step of the way!

Love this, Nayli! It's a great reminder, especially for those of us with "soft skills" that don't always show up on formal evaluations.
