Unrestricted Funds: A Charity's Favorite Words
Sharing the Credit
Fund your Charity, Not the Bank... with Zero-cost Philanthropy. Doing Good Is Good Business.
Really. That's it. No big song and dance as they say A LOT on LinkedIn. A whole lot.
I know a non-profit that was just gifted $35,000 for Food. Their annual budget for food is about $3,000. They are not short of food. The Grant could ONLY be used for food. They will have $32,000 left over with nothing to spend it on, nor could they legally spend it if it's not food.
I tell businesses this next thing daily. Give freely. We do not micro-manage the charity you are giving to, nor do we allow you to micro-manage them through us. If you do not trust your charity, find one you do trust and give to them freely. They know what they need it for.
Sharing the Credit ONLY does unrestricted funds so it is the same as a cash donation. I had a group once call and ask what they could spend the $4,000 check on they just got. We don't care. Seriously. We are not on your board. Put it in the operating account and have the board decide what they need it for.
Remember: They're the good guys.
