The Unregulated Insurance Advisor & The Pitfalls of Misrepresentation
At Motum Insurance Services we don't really get involved in personal lines or private #car #insurance, but I couldn't help but take a step back when I read a recent article by Martyn Lewis, the alleged money saving expert.
In a recent article, Martyn Lewis suggested to play with your job title when obtaining online insurance quotes to achieve a cheaper premium, essentially gaming the system and for me this raises serious concerns.
Insurance is a goodwill transaction, you provide full & honest information to the insurer and in retain they will indemnify you against the losses covered by the policy, at the point lies or manipulation become a feature of the policy the door open's for disaster.
Personally I believe in transparency and ethical practices, and would strongly advise against such tactics and naturally taking advise relating to a contract of insurance from anyone who isn't even regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority .
I've highlighted some of the real headlines below:-
?1. Misrepresentation Leads to Invalid Policies:
Altering your job title with the intent to manipulate insurance quotes is not only unethical but can also result in the issuance of invalid insurance policies. Insurance contracts are built on trust and accurate information – any deviation can have severe consequences.

?2. Legal and Ethical Implications:
Providing inaccurate information violates the principle of utmost good faith, a fundamental aspect of insurance agreements. Engaging in such practices may have legal repercussions and damage your credibility as a policyholder.
?3. Potential Claim Denials:
Insurance policies are designed to offer protection based on the accurate assessment of risk. Misrepresenting your job title could lead to claim denials if it is discovered that the information provided during the application process was intentionally misleading.
At Motum Insurance Services , we advocate for responsible and honest interactions with insurance providers. Misrepresenting material facts not only jeopardizes the integrity of the insurance industry but also puts policyholders at risk. We commit to guiding all stakeholders towards making informed, ethical decisions that ensure the validity and reliability of their insurance coverage.
Taking advise from a journalist is as equal as taking advise from the "been there, done that" expert that sit's at the end of the bar at your local pub, it really is more expensive than any saving's you think you will achieve..
