I am at a loss for words given the terrible events in the Ukraine. This keeps all of us in suspense, and it’s hard to believe something like this is happening in Europe.
?While there is no Russian involvement in World eX we are deeply shocked and concerned. Our thoughts are with the people in the Ukraine who need the world’s support.
?There are no borders in World eX and we’ll continue to build our stunning community even if it is difficult with all those terrible pictures coming in from the Ukraine.
?It seems so unreal – but unfortunately it’s real.
- Season 2 of World eX kicks off on March 29 with the eX Prix of Great Britain presented by?Williams Esports?at (virtual) Silverstone. It will be the first event for our new race format. We learned a lot in Season 1 and got precious feedback. Together with our teams we have developed a much more compact and straightforward race format with Free Practice, Qualifying, two Quarter Finals, a Semi Final and the Final. We believe this is a good compromise between traditional racing and our forward-thinking knock-out format including the head-to-head final between the best PRO and the best ESPORTS racer we will keep for Season 2.
- We’ve started a new series of short video clips on our YouTube channel called?"Track Records”. This series is showing onboard footage from the fastest laps in official World eX and World eX Bizz events including telemetry data. When looking at the track records of Season 1, it became obvious how fast our all-electric eX ZERO is with lap times right in between Formula One and Le Mans Hypercars.
- Round 2 of World eX Bizz takes place at Daytona International Speedway on March 7. The official version of the famous track released by Motorsport Games on?rFactor 2?is just brilliant and so much fun to drive – especially in POWER MODE 2. World eX Bizz targets people working in real racing, esports, mobility and clean energy and reducing the power from 1,000 to 800 hp made our eX ZERO a little bit easier to drive for non-professionals. For Round 2 we are looking forward to welcome Patrick Long Esports’ Henry Drury as a wild card driver and as a guest in our Bizz Talk.
- World eX driver and R8G Team Principal Romain Grosjean has been voted the most popular IndyCar driver in a?Global INDYCAR Fan Survey, conducted by Nielsen Sport on behalf of IndyCar and Motorsport Network. We are so proud Romain and R8G are back on the grid in World eX this year and we keep the fingers crossed for Romain’s first full IndyCar season which kicked off this weekend in St. Petersburg.
- CUPRA celebrated its fourth anniversary this week announcing its very own Metaverse called?METAHYPE. The ambitious plans of CEO Wayne Griffiths include a new form of motorsport in the X-Reality, putting real drivers in the UrbanRebel Concept wearing VR glasses while driving. A very interesting concept!
- BILSTER BERG is gearing up for the new season with?“erFahren”?and “Race Track practice” on March 20. And there are great news for our community: a virtual version of the challenging German track could become reality on rFactor 2 in the future.
- Hayden Paddon continues to develop and showcase his all-electric Kona EV rally car which will be sporting a?new livery?in 2022. The Kiwi was able to attract new partners for his ambitious project. A good sign that zero-emission motorsport gets more and more relevant.
- Volkswagen had a comeback in racing courtesy of?Schaeffler Paravanwhich entered two ID.3s equipped with Paravan’s latest Space Drive steer-by-wire technology in the first ever 24-hour race for electric cars at the Hockenheimring. The two ID.3s finished 4th and 6th.
- The Ferry Porsche Foundation, the BABOR BEAUTY GROUP, green startup everwave, and the Audi Environmental Foundation will deploy a garbage collection boat on the Danube River on Earth Day (April 22). In all, the?CollectiX?will spend five weeks in Romania collecting plastic and other waste from the Danube and its tributaries.
