Are you a Quality professional or a data analytics enthusiast feeling like you've hit a roadblock in your career journey? As someone who has passionately pursued both realms, I understand the frustration of being trapped in the stagnation zone. In this article, I aim to share insights from my own transformative experience and from meeting over 100 such professionals in last couple of months. I find following as 3 key areas of improvement that if worked upon will certainly help you crank your engine again:
In a world driven by data, the line between IT and true analytical skills often blurs. While data generation and flashy graphs are common, the essence of analytics lies in extracting valuable insights. The allure of colorful visuals may overshadow the critical strategic revelations that guide effective decision-making. I find most of the fancy graphs made by most analysts using BI tools, throwing little or no insights. Nothing against the BI tools but human ability to think and anticipate the questions of a business leader certainly needs improvement.
2. The Missing Depth in Analytical Tool Knowledge:
As a Black Belt-certified professional, I know firsthand the profound impact of in-depth analytical expertise. I underwent rigorous training, diving into hypothesis testing and SPC by hand, dedicating a year to earning my certification during which my mentor made me perform all analyses by hand. Today, the industry is rife with "belt-wearers" and "six-sigma trainers" who lack genuine mastery, diminishing the perceived value of concepts like lean six sigma and TQM. Recently, I was unpleasantly surprised to see some professionals, whose CVs were loaded with names of advanced analytical tools, unable to explain very basic concepts. The abundance of shallow knowledge overshadows the true potential these concepts offer, leading to reduced trust causing reduced demand for qualified professionals and triggering frustration and desperate career moves.

3. The Struggle to Embrace Agility:
While thorough analysis remains crucial, the ability to adapt swiftly to evolving business needs is equally vital. As a Black Belt professional, I have witnessed the transformation of lean six-sigma concepts. In today's tech-enabled world, the speed of analysis and improvement must match the pace of the industry. Failure to be agile can lead to missed opportunities and a disconnect between analytical outputs and business requirements.
In the pursuit of career progression, addressing these challenges becomes essential. Feel free to ping me if you need a detailed discussion and I'll be happy to help you to the best of my ability.
