Unravel your heartsong : Heartistry

Key Insight:

If you and I can bring song, dance, nature or any art that brings us alive into our everyday living and work, our life purpose will come alive and animate our Work, Home & Relationships. This can be a key aspect of learning @ the heart of Coaching, Leadership & Living.

------------

25 years back, in 1996 I left the corporate world out of one simple question:

Why do we live only a small a small fraction of the life we are given?

I started coaching an x-CEO last month to help him discover his next orbit. What was his calling? What is the work that would bring him deep joy and fulfilment. I had previously coached a few years back when he was a CEO of a large organisation. He was asking me to help him find what would make his heart sing and yet give him a sense of Purpose and meaning.

I had come to be known for conducting Tao programs inspired by the Tao Te Ching. Last year, a dear friend who was coaching me, asked, "Who would Kiran be without the Tao?" It had become an identity. As I looked deep within, I found I am essentially an artist of the heart.. and hence the word Heartistry arrived. Clearly its not just a word.. it is opening up a world for me and us. I have been learning to sing from Radhika Sood- Nayak and learnt the Story Craft from Siddharth Maskeri. And somehow enjoy dancing.

I realised that if we could bring 3 aspects into our life, our lifework (heartsong), Ikigai would flower.

  1. Any Art that brings us alive - Song, Dance, Theatre, Gardening, Cooking, a Sport etc.
  2. A connection with Nature - The earth and the elements - the sun/ fire, the air, water, sky.
  3. Body & Health - Its obvious and yet oblivious. Taking care of physical health can deeply enliven our life purpose.

This journey started close to 25 years back after IIT (1982-86) and did my Aeronautical Engineering but ended up discovering how my heart was more with people, not engineering. By a strange twist of life, I became the GS (Student Affairs) and then chose a Sales Job with HCL. Followed by XLRI (1988-90) and ITC Packaging in Sales & Marketing. In 1996 I quit & joined Pragati Learning following my heart - being a facilitator - enabling human potential, developing leaders & facilitators. I started Eternale Learning in 2000 & CoEvolve in 2009.
