Unravel CTM Skincare Basics this New Year!

New Year, New Skin, New You -

Hello, beauties!?

Looking to kickstart 2022 with a brand-new skincare routine? Wouldn’t it be awesome if you somehow revamp your skin magically this year?

Regardless of why you want to start a new skincare routine, it is the best time to make the decision. Self-love never hurts anyone right?

If you’ve never had a skincare routine & are clueless about how to go about it, that'll get you started. And if you already follow a routine, take it as a refresher.

Read on to the bottom because I’ve some important pointers to update your skincare routine -

Begin with Basics

->Step 1 to decide your holy grail skincare products list is knowing your skin type. Different skin types react differently to various products.?

->Your skin matures with age. Its needs change over time. Plus, umpteen factors affect your skincare - humidity, sun exposure, weather, hormones, deficiencies - ah, they're endless! Always check if a product fits these criteria before buying.

The Fundamental CTM

Age-bar aside, the fundamental skincare routine stays the same. Fundamentals being the CTM (Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing) Sequence.

Cleansing – Super-important for skincare. Remember to remove dirt & makeup with a good cleanser that suits you.

??Double-cleansing is inspired by Korean & Japanese cultures where two different cleansers are used. How to do it? Use an oil-based cleanser first & follow with a water or gel-based cleanser. If you’re someone with oily, acne-prone skin & an intense makeup regime, go for it!

Toning - Non-alcoholic toner restores skin pH level without removing natural moisture. It preps the skin for moisturizers & serums.

?Moisturizing- External skin hydration is important to avoid skin dullness. Moisturizing adds a protective layer that reduces trans-epidermal loss & protects the skin barrier.

?A common skin care myth is that oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer. Wrong! Oily skin types can opt for water or gel-based moisturizer as the creamy ones might be heavy. If you don't use any moisturizer, your skin will produce more oil to compensate for the dryness. And you don’t want to aggravate the issue!

?Sunscreen - Conclude the CTM Sequence with a broad-spectrum sunscreen that has a minimum of SPF 30. There are two sunscreen types:

  1. ?Physical – Also called sun-blocks, they deflect harmful UV rays.
  2. ?Chemical - Contain sun-protecting active ingredients. Lighter & easier to apply without leaving white casts. Provide less protection.

Additionally, you should do a CTM routine before bedtime too. Apart from the basics, you can have a different moisturizer & in-between products.

Skin tissue is repaired while sleeping. So a personalized night-time skincare regime alongside a good night's sleep is recommended. Wake up with lovely skin!

In-between products

These are add-ons to be used alongside main skincare products. The best option is to use a mild exfoliant twice weekly. Some in-betweens for you to try:

·? ? Serums – Available in varying consistencies for various skin types.

·? ? Physical & Chemical exfoliants – Remove dead skin cells

·? ?Skincare Actives - Target specific skin issues

·? ?Facial Oils - Seal-in moisture after layering products.

These are some tips to help you optimize your skincare routine like a pro! I hope they help you design or revamp your skincare regime for 2022.?

Now stop wishing you had great skin & go get it!
