One Team, One Family

As a theater mom, I have witnessed the incredible impact that theater has had on both my adopted and biological children over the past few years. Theater is not just about putting on a show; it's a transformative experience that nurtures children's development in remarkable ways. I have watched my kid's voice and confidence grow on stage. They have forged healthy friendships with other children. Their focus has gotten better since can see an end goal; multiple shows over two weekends.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of our theater journey has been seeing how it brings our family together as a whole. The theater company, Christian Youth Theater (CYT) , Sacramento requires families to volunteer at least 20 hours in various capacities.? We are usually on the costume's team since my husband is an expert with a sewing machine.? Engaging in activities like theater provides us with a common ground where we can bond, support each other, and grow as a team.

Participating in theater as a family has allowed us to share memorable experiences, work towards common goals, and celebrate each other's successes. It has helped us build stronger relationships, improve communication, and foster a sense of unity and belonging.

Scholastic Dives Deeper

Scholastic provides valuable insights into the transformative power of engaging children in the performing arts. Research shows that children who actively participate in singing, dancing, acting, or playing instruments are not only more likely to be recognized for academic achievements but also experience enhanced cognitive, motor, and social development. However, the benefits of performing go beyond the classroom walls and can significantly impact a child's overall growth and development.

Some of the most valuable skills children acquire through performing arts is the:

  • Ability to think quickly on their feet.

  • Courage to face fears of anxiety.
  • Ability to express themselves.
  • Ability to boost their self-esteem.

Theater has not only benefited our children individually but has also contributed to the overall cohesiveness and resilience of our family. By engaging in creative and collaborative activities together, we have learned to appreciate each other's strengths, overcome obstacles as a team, and create lasting memories that strengthen our family bond.

If you're looking for an activity that can bring your family closer together and create lasting connections, consider participating in theater or other collaborative pursuits. It's a wonderful way to build strong family bonds, support each other's growth, and create a sense of unity and togetherness.

And remember, when you embark on this journey together as a family, you're not just sharing moments on stage - you're creating a lifetime of shared experiences, growth, and love. In the end, you are helping your kids shatter their own sky.
