Unmask Your #1 Competitor: It’s Closer Than You Think

A few days ago, I wrote about a topic that resonates deeply with many coaches — Impostor Syndrome.?

Today, let’s talk about something equally important – your #1 competitor.

Can you guess who that is??

It's not the coach who has spent $200,000 more in coach training, or the one with a string of degrees and credentials after their name.

The #1 competitor you face each day resides much closer to home.?

It’s the 6-8 inches of tissue and material inside your head, between your ears and behind your eyes — your brain.

Our brains are amazing — they are the filing cabinets of all our knowledge, experiences, memories, and much more. They are like a supercomputer, storing every moment of our lives, especially the ones that have left unforgettable marks and scars.

Unfortunately, our brains have a knack for holding on to painful and invalidating experiences. These memories tend to resurface, especially during times of change or uncertainty, serving as roadblocks and keeping us stuck.

Suppose you’ve been grappling with impostor syndrome. In that case, your brain is likely amplifying those feelings, creating a state of self-doubt that keeps you from taking bold, decisive action.

But here's a liberating truth:

You have NO competition.

Why? Because there's only one YOU in this world.

It doesn’t matter if there are thousands of coaches who share the same niche as you. Clients choose to work with you because they resonate with YOU — your authenticity, your vibe, your unique approach, and your story.

So, how do you rise above this internal competitor and leverage your uniqueness? Here are a few tips:

Embrace Your Authentic Self

Your authenticity is your secret sauce. Clients will not only be drawn to your genuineness, passion, and dedication, they’ll feel it. Don't be afraid to let your true self shine.

Value Your Unique Journey

Your experiences, triumphs, struggles, and lessons are unique to you and no one else but you. Share your journey and the wisdom you've gained from it. Those who share similar experiences will feel less alone, more connected and admire your courage in sharing your stories.

Connect with Your Community

Build relationships with other coaches. Rather than viewing them as competitors, see them as potential collaborators and supporters who can champion your work and refer clients to you.

One of the best ways to release the grips of your inner critic is one of my favorite tools and go-to practice, The Peace Process. If you feel stuck in any way, this practice just melts the tension away. Instead of writing more about it, just go here and experience it for yourself.

There is no one on the planet like you. Remember, your only competition is the voice inside your head that tells you otherwise. The moment you conquer this internal critic, you unlock the door to unlimited possibilities.

In essence, you're not battling other coaches; you're combating the limiting thoughts and beliefs in your own mind. And, when you do overcome these internal roadblocks, you will find an entire world waiting for you to lead, guide, and inspire them.
