UNLV is Starting to Gain Traction After a Rough Start

UNLV has won three straight games after starting the season 4-8. The Runnin' Rebels are starting to grasp new Head Coach T.J. Otzelberger's system and are beginning to jell as a team as well. The new Head Coach got his first marquee win last night when the Runnin' Rebels defeated Utah State to move to 2-0 in Conference play this season. It is only going to get tougher in the next few weeks for UNLV as they travel to Wyoming and Nevada and host undefeated San Diego State before the month is out. Some tough early season losses will help to build the team's character including setbacks to Pac12 teams California and UCLA. Can UNLV get back to the glory days of Greg Anthony, Larry Johnson, etc.? Maybe, maybe not. If they can win the always difficult Mountain West Conference Tournament this March they can make it back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013. That would be a step in the right direction.

Be on the lookout for my College Sports Radio Show that will launch in the next several months along with a daily/weekly blog on College Basketball, College Lacrosse, College Football, and US Soccer. Please follow me on Twitter as well - @SteveHiegel - Thanks.
