In the cutthroat corporate world, it's easy to feel trapped in your career. In fact, it's a shared struggle for many women to be seen and heard to be promoted and make more money.
That's why I'm happy to share some game-changing strategies and mindset adjustments in my latest podcast episode of 'No Woman Left Behind,' titled 'Unlocking Success: Steering Clear of Career Sabotage.' ???
In this episode I also share a bit about my story and explain why I'm passionate about my work.
Our mission is to empower women to embrace their leadership potential and thrive in fulfilling careers.
KEY POINTS:
Own Your Worth:?We've all been there—busting our chops and hoping that someone upstairs will take notice. It's like being the shy kid in school, waiting to get picked for the team. Listen up; you don't need someone else's permission to excel. You're not just 'good enough.' You're stellar and worth every opportunity that comes your way. Befriend your self-doubt and step into your power. ??
The Impact of Self-Advocacy:?Something magical happens when you advocate for yourself. Your confidence grows, your visibility within the company skyrockets, and you set a precedent for how you should be treated. It's akin to putting a stake in the ground, marking your territory in this competitive jungle. Advocacy starts at home with you. ??
Cultivate a Growth Mindset: Have you ever felt hamstrung by your thoughts? Let's put an end to that. Carol Dweck's book "Mindset" teaches us to shift from a 'fixed mindset' to a 'growth mindset.' The philosophy is simple: view challenges as opportunities and setbacks as lessons. Don't just dodge failure; use it as a stepping stone. The more you adapt and learn, the more valuable you become in your job. ??
Design Your Career GPS: What's a journey without a map? Toiling away without a career roadmap is like spinning your wheels in a mud pit—you get nowhere. Set clear, actionable goals that align with your core values and skill set. When you know where you're headed, every step, no matter how small, has a purpose and adds value to your long-term career vision. ???
The Power of Building Relationships: Remember, you're not an island. Whether online webinars, industry conferences, or casual LinkedIn interactions, building relationships can provide valuable insights and open doors you didn't even know existed. The right connection today could be your ticket to a leadership role tomorrow. ??

1 年Rosie Zilinskas Some additional thoughts on the points you make: Own Your Worth - but first know your worth - in other words assess your strengths, hand how they work best in your workplace - what do you bring to the table that is unique and that no one expected? What do people look to you for? What makes you different and special? Before you can own anything, you have to know these things. Cultivate a Growth Mindset: In addition to cultivating a growth mindset, create a learning plan for the year that includes reading. podcasts, conferences, if possible, and meetings. The Power of Building Reldationships - observe those who are mentors, connectors, and those who are open to other ideas and people. Then pay whatever you can forward - help others through introductions, - whatever fits.

1 年Great article Rosie! "We've all been there—busting our chops and hoping that someone upstairs will take notice." This is the hardest thing to do because many of us have been taught not to self-promote...it is "not ladylike" to brag! The unfortunate part of that is that the many things we do may go un-noticed. Even though I have gotten better at sharing my accomplishments, it is not always easy to get them out of my mouth!
