Hey everyone!
As a business coach dedicated to helping future leaders change and grow, I often think about the importance of self-awareness.
The journey to great leadership begins with a deep understanding of where you stand today (the brutal truth!) — your strengths, weaknesses, and the factors holding you back.?
In 2021, I felt completely stuck and was burning out.
After taking massive action, I went through a profound period of self-discovery and re-evaluation of what success truly means. This journey has guided me toward understanding and steadily becoming a better version of myself.
Now, in 2024, one of the most powerful tools I use with my clients is a structured self-assessment called the Grand Performance Score Assessment.
This assessment breaks down your leadership abilities into two core categories: Personal Leadership and Business Leadership.
By evaluating yourself across these dimensions, you can gain understanding on where you excel and where you need to focus your efforts for growth.

Self-Reflection: The Path to Growth
Once you’ve rated yourself in each of these areas, it’s time to reflect on your scores.
How Do You Score Yourself?
Taking a hard look at your scores is the first step toward meaningful growth. You might find that you excel in certain areas while others need more attention. Here’s an example of how an honest self-assessment might look:
Personal Leadership Score:
? Clarity: 2/5
? Capacity: 3/5
? Confidence: 4/5
? Coachability: 5/5
? Creativity: 4/5
? Content: 1/5
= Total: 19/30
Business Leadership Score:
? Strategy: 4/5
? Revenue: 3/5
? Finance: 3/5
? Product: 4/5
? People: 5/5
? Tech: 3/5
= Total: 22/30
? Grand Performance Score is 41/60
How Satisfied Are You with the Situation?
With your scores in hand, consider your overall satisfaction. Are there areas where you feel proud of your achievements? Perhaps you’ve been doing well with team management and strategy but feel less confident about your capacity and content creation. Reflect on what these scores say about your current situation.
What Is Holding You Back from Achieving More?
Finally, ask yourself: what is preventing you from scoring higher? Maybe time management is a struggle, limiting your capacity to take on new challenges. Or perhaps you need to deepen your financial knowledge to make more informed business decisions.
Identifying these obstacles is important because it helps you target specific areas for improvement.
For example, in our self-assessment scenario, the leader is satisfied with their clarity and confidence but recognizes a need to improve capacity and content creation. On the business side, they master people management but need to focus more on revenue generation activities and financial management.

Focus Forward: Setting the Stage for Growth
Now that you’ve identified where you stand and what’s holding you back, it’s time to take action. Here are a few steps you can take to improve your scores:
1. Set Clear Goals: Define what success looks like in the areas where you scored lower. Set specific, measurable goals to improve. Prioritize!
2. Seek Feedback: If you are coachable, leverage it by seeking feedback from mentors, peers, or a business coach to help you move forward with confidence.
3. Invest in Learning: Identify the skills or knowledge gaps holding you back, and invest in learning through Youtube, online courses, books, or Live workshops.
4. Delegate and Empower: If capacity is an issue, look for tasks you can delegate. Empower your team to take on more responsibility, freeing you to focus on high-impact areas. When you master this area, you can easily exercise multiple times a week, and sleep enough.
5. Measure Progress: Regularly revisit your Grand Performance Score to measure your progress. Celebrate the areas where you’ve improved and continue working on areas that need attention.
Conclusion: Self-Awareness is Powerful
The Grand Performance Score is not just a random assessment tool. It’s a mirror reflecting your current leadership reality.
By understanding where you stand today, you can create a clear path toward the leader you aspire to be. Growth is a continuous process, and with the right focus and effort, you can elevate every aspect of your leadership.
As a business coach, I encourage you to use this new understanding as a foundation for your ongoing development. The better you know yourself, the better you understand your brutal truth, the better you can lead others and drive your business to new heights.
