Unlocking the World of Finance: Aspiring Interns at EDDID

As the Eddid Financial Internship Program Q1 2023 comes to a close, we're excited to share feedback from our latest group of motivated interns. Read on to discover how they unlocked the world of finance.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your internship role at EDDID?

Pinky Mak (Wealth Management)

I am a final-year student majoring in Finance at Hong Kong Baptist University. Being an intern at EDDID, I joined the Department of Wealth Management. My role in the team was to mainly assist sales support colleagues in preparing reports, performing data entry duties, and handling other administrative duties which were assigned by my supervisors and salespersons. I also conducted researches on Hong Kong listed stocks of clients' portfolios. I chose EDDID for my internship because this multifaceted financial institution provides comprehensive financial products and this is where I wish to gain practical working experience at. Furthermore, I successfully became a licensed insurance agent at EDDID.

Kurt Wang (Investment Banking)

I'm Kurt Wang from Investment Banking Department. I'm a year 2 student majoring in Mathematics from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I like to describe myself as an outgoing and caring person. I enjoy interacting with different people and learning from them. Joining EDDID really gave me the chance to do so. Every day I came into the office at around 09:00 and read the HKEX News website to update the market information and sent it to my supervisor. My supervisor taught me how to identify the key information from a lengthy prospectus. I also assisted in checking data and contracts from our clients from which I learned a lot of finance knowledge.

I decided to join EDDID for the short purpose of practicing my dream of working in the finance industry. Even though the internship only lasted for a month, I have to admit it was a very fruitful journey. I received an entire day of training from the heads of different departments. Not to mention, the frequent meetings with managers and senior analysts. I really learned a lot in the process.

Danny Tang (Internet Finance)

I am thrilled to have embarked on my journey as an intern at EDDID with the aim of acquiring practical experience in the financial industry and equipping my skill set and knowledge base. EDDID's reputation for offering top-notch financial services to its clients and its emphasis on innovation and technology drew me to the company.

As a year 2 student of Actuarial Science at the University of Hong Kong, I am particularly intrigued by the intersection of finance and risk management. I was captivated by EDDID's commitment to finance and its adoption of cutting-edge technology to provide clients with comprehensive solutions for risk mitigation and return optimization.

Katy Shen (Wealth Management)

My name is Katy Shen, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Finance at City University of Hong Kong. During the internship in the Wealth Management Department, Jenny was my direct leader of insurance business-related work. I am an outgoing and cheerful person who can easily adapt to new environments. EDDID's internship offered high flexibility and allowed us to choose the department we are interested to work in through interviews and internal communication. I was lucky to be assigned to a department with great work content, a harmonious atmosphere, and hospitable colleagues.
