Unlocking Synergy: Seamlessly Integrating Oracle Cloud VMware Solution with OCI Native Services

OCVS is deployed on dedicated bare metal servers, under the customer Tenancy and using the same infrastructure of all other customer cloud native services, allowing a seamless, low latency and simplified integration with all other cloud services like LBaaS, Firewalls, Storage, Kubernetes and Databases.

This is a fundamental diference from the other cloud providers VMware solutions, where the VMware is lives on a peered shared infrastructure and will greatly reduce complexity allowing simplified architectures with local connectivity when the customer leverages native cloud services.

Another interesting example is the unique capability of using Oracle Cloud networking implementation to use VLANs. VLANs can be assigned to ESXi hosts and then used by VMware Distributed Switch directly to further reduce latency between VMware VMs and native OCI resources and at the same time, lower the CPU load on NSX Gateways that are completely bypassed using this architecture.

Using a quick step-by-step we will deploy a Oracle Cloud public LBaaS and integrate it with VMware workloads as backends.

After creating the new NSX segment we will add two web servers to the new VMware DVS portgroup web-servers-test:

Configure OCVS connectivity to other VCNs using the wizard:

Add the VMware workload segment and the destination VCN subnet:

This completes the OCVS configuration, we will then provision the public OCI native Load Balancer in the DMZ hub VCN:

Configure the OCVS VMs as backend servers:

Validate the load balancer backend health status:
