Early in my career as an HR leader, I approached resistance with a different perspective. However, a pivotal shift occurred during my participation in Goodyear Tire & Rubber's Global Leadership Development Program, held in Belgium. This transformative experience introduced me to the power of "polarity management," an approach offering insights and tools for addressing seemingly insurmountable challenges. Among its core tenets, a profound principle emerged: "there is wisdom in resistance."

It has since become an enduring principle, shaping my daily interactions, and guiding my leadership style. Embracing the wisdom in resistance has empowered me to elevate my active listening skills, thereby fostering a culture of attentive engagement.? Am I perfect, far from it, but I know that I am a much better HR leader for continuing to consider this principle in my daily interactions.
