Challenges
I was experiencing burnout after a particularly demanding period at work which left me constantly on alert, addicted to work emails and neglecting my health and family. ?
Recognising the detrimental impact on my wellbeing I sought leadership development coaching. ?My primary focus was addressing imposter syndrome, alongside tackling my lack of mental clarity due to a remarkably busy brain. ?
The outcome was to move from situational management to strategic leadership.
Coaching
Duration: 6 months | Frequency: monthly
Initial Assessment
Joe conducted an initial assessment of my situation, identifying my challenges.
This took place during a walking session which made me feel at ease. ?
I “think out loud” and this lack of pressure in an open space unlocked many hidden worries and concerns.
Core Values
The coaching process began by exploring my core values and strengths. ?
We explored how my strengths could be overdone, which might be contributing to my challenges, particularly in terms of sacrificing myself to meet the demands of others.
Self-Awareness
Through attentive listening and the ability to ask just the right questions, Joe unlocked my self-awareness. ?
Stepping back allowed me to identify challenging situations I had not previously identified.
Not having space between work and home meant I was constantly feeling the pressure to answer emails.

Identifying Solutions
Joe led me to my own practical solutions, helping me to own actions by empowering me to address the causes of burnout and imposter syndrome. ?

Reflections

These were incredibly helpful, providing clarity and focus not only to our discussion, but to the actions and outcomes that I agreed would move me forward.
Outcomes

This has resulted in a more balanced approach to my leadership role, I cannot do it all and nor should I. ?

Conclusion
I did not recognise the true value the right coach could bring to my own personal and professional development. ?I now do not know how I could be an effective leader without it. ?
After the first session I already felt lighter, clearer, and left the session with purpose.
Without Joe’s unique coaching approach and guidance, I would have found work situations more challenging to navigate.
Holding on to my values, defining my boundaries and becoming more self-aware has been hugely beneficial to me and the people I work with.
