Unlocking the Secret to High-Converting CTAs: Why Your 'Call Us' Button Isn't Working.


Like many businesses, I want my prospects to book a call with me to discuss their needs and explore how my expertise can help them get ahead. We have a "Book A Call" button on our website, in our social media profiles, and on our outbound marketing material as our Call To Action (CTA).

Speaking to other business owners, it seems we all face a similar problem: NO ONE CLICKS on the "Book A Call" button! Why is that?

Your ideal customers aren't clicking your button due to two specific fears. Let's break them down.

1. Fear of Being Hounded

Your prospects fear that once they hand over their contact details, they'll be relentlessly pursued by salespeople, even if they're not yet ready to buy and are just looking for more information. This fear is very real.

A business owner I know filled out a "Contact Us" form for a software vendor, simply to learn more about their solutions. Over the next two weeks, he received more than 20 phone calls and 16 emails from salespeople desperate to close a deal. This experience turned him off from speaking to the vendor entirely.

We've all been pestered by over-eager salespeople, right? It's the same for your prospects. No wonder they hesitate to click on your "Book A Call" button.

2. Fear of Looking Stupid

Your prospects have challenges they're looking to solve, and they assume (rightly) that you have more expertise than they do. However, this knowledge gap can make them worried about asking "dumb" questions that might make them look foolish.

No one likes to feel stupid. Although this fear is unwarranted because you wouldn't judge them for their questions, it's human nature to be concerned about it. This fear makes them avoid clicking your button.

Great insights, Peter! Addressing the fears of being hounded and looking stupid is crucial. Implementing an AI intermediary like Peter's Sales AI is a game-changer. How have others tackled these challenges? It's disappointing that as adults we feel like we have to have all the answers. Somehow we get the message that there are stupid questions. Simply, there are answers that you just don't know yet. Nobody asks something they know...just a thought.
