Unlocking Resilience: from fatigue to fired-up motivation, and 28% boost in performance.

Imagine if everyone on your team suddenly performed 28% better?

What would that mean for your business?

What would mean for the world?

For your life?

The Hard Things That Shape Us

When I hear people talk about work-life balance and how we should "take it easy" when things get tough, I think back to my parents.

They worked nights to give me a chance at a better future. They didn’t do what was convenient. They did what was necessary.

And that’s why I’m here today, growing generational wealth.

?? Research from 麦肯锡 and other leadership studies show that self-efficacy—our belief in our ability to succeed—is directly linked to higher performance (28%+), resilience, and adaptability in times of change.

Where does self-efficacy, that belief in our ability to do hard things and succeed come from?

You don’t develop muscle by picking up lighter weights.

You don't develop strong self-belief by taking days off when things get a little bit tougher.

The Shift

Every night, I feel drained.

Every night, I feel like I have nothing left to give.

And every night, I remind myself: I’ve felt this way before. I had a good night of sleep. I recharged. I felt stronger and I got better. In a day, in a week, in a month you won't remember this hard moment, but the results of your work will stay, you'll get stronger, you'll live an expanded, a bigger future.

(These are some tools of Emotional Shifting, a MUST skill in challenging times and for building a resilient self. ??"Shift: Managing Your Emotions--So They Don't Manage You" by Ethan Kross )

Reflecting on my own journey, I can recall many times when the demands of work felt overwhelming.

Instead of retreating, I embraced these challenges, reminding myself of past achievements and envisioning the future benefits of perseverance.

This mindset shift transformed fatigue into motivation.

??Strategies to Foster Resilience and Self-Efficacy in Your Team

To cultivate a culture of self-efficacy, of resilience, of leaning into hard things within your organization, consider practicing these rituals of emotional shifting together:

  1. Reflect on Past Successes: Encourage people to recall previous challenges they've overcome, reinforcing their belief in their ability to succeed again.
  2. Visualize Future Achievements: Guide team members to envision the positive outcomes of their current efforts, helping them stay focused and motivated, knowing what's it all for.
  3. Promote Self-Coaching: Teach teams to coach themselves through difficulties, fostering independence and problem-solving skills. "Angela, you said you wanted to be one of the greats. How do you think people get there? They push forward when it’s hard. They don’t stop." Teach people to be their #1 fan - giving themselves advice in 2nd and 3rd person.

By integrating these practices, as a leader you can enhance your team's self-efficacy, their adaptability and resilience, essential traits in today's dynamic, fast-changing business and life environment.

28% boost in performance?

It comes from doing hard things together, and better, managing your emotions instead of emotions managing you.
