Unlocking Professionalism Through the Lens

Redefining Corporate Headshots; A Recap of a Corporate Headshot Event with Multiverse

In today's dynamic business landscape, the visual representation of professionals plays a pivotal role in establishing credibility and authenticity. At my photography company, Put You On Stage, we understand the significance of compelling corporate headshots that not only capture individual personalities but also embody the essence of professionalism and competence. Join us as we spend the day delving into the artistry and precision behind creating impactful corporate headshots that will leave a lasting impression.

This past summer, I had the opportunity to conduct a full-day corporate headshot event with Multiverse NYC. Multiverse is a tech startup with the mission to create a diverse group of future leaders by providing high-quality professional apprenticeship programs that combine work, training, and community. They hired my company with the task of capturing headshots for their 80 staff, group shots showcasing the New York team, office culture, and photographs from their happy hour gathering.

The day I was scheduled for the Multiverse Headshot event, was the first day the team saw their new office. It was gorgeous! It overlooked Manhattan and you could see Hudson yards in the distance. Once settled into the new space, my assistant and I set up the company backdrop and lighting equipment to match the exact style of Headshots requested. To streamline the process, I connected my Canon EOS RP camera to my iPad, enabling immediate viewing of the headshots for the staff following their sessions with me. I favor this approach because both my muse and I feel assured that when it comes time to edit the photos, the chosen shots will be our favorites.

Throughout the day, members of the Multiverse team arrived for their headshot sessions, where I consistently sought to learn their preferred facial or bodily angles. By highlighting their favored features, my goal was to encapsulate their true essence. Rather than imposing rigid poses, I strive to cultivate an environment that fosters empowerment and confidence in my subjects. Following the capture of 7 to 15 photos, subjects would consult with my assistant to select two favorite photos for editing. Meanwhile, I seamlessly transitioned to the next team member, diligently capturing their best angles and encouraging genuine smiles.

Midway through the Headshot Event, I proposed relocating to the rooftop for our group photo session, drawn by the allure of natural illumination and the breathtaking views of Manhattan.

Guiding approximately 80 Multiverse team members to the rooftop, I meticulously arranged them for the office's grand group photo. I instructed everyone to focus their gaze on my camera lens. Once satisfied that all eyes were on me, I captured the moment. The resulting image was nothing short of spectacular.

Following the group photo, we resumed the headshot sessions, making sure all team members were captured. Once the individual headshots were completed, I took the opportunity to capture candid moments of the team at work. As the work day came to an end and happy hour began, I photographed authentic moments, genuine smiles, and networking interactions. My primary objective was to curate a collection of photographs for internal promotion of staff events and showcasing the vibrant community within the New York offices.?Multiverse happy hour photos.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining a fresh and current personal brand, I advocate for regular headshot sessions, ideally every two years. These images can be used as profile pictures on various platforms, conveying a warm and inviting persona.? Research from Tesla indicates that 85% of recruiters refer to candidates' LinkedIn profiles and other social media channels during the hiring process. Conversely, candidates often explore recruiters' profiles on LinkedIn and social media to gauge the organizational culture and determine their suitability as a potential employer.?
