Data sharing is important to the maritime industry, but I don't think the industry should jump at every new technology, just because the world stopped writing about the previous one (in or case it's blockchain). The technology underpinning ChatGPT is GPT, still evolving since Open.AI built their fork (btw, forks lead to fragmentation as shown by crypto). Each maritime company has unique ecosystem of vessels (equipped with technologies ranging from simple alarm bells and gauges all the way to the automated bridge controls), voyages, chartering arrangements, port terminal arrangements, and ownership interests. For them to leverage all this information about themselves they need to build their own system to help them sort out through information they already have. Problem: they need sophisticated IT resources to build their own GPT-based system(s). Take vessel operations as example: ship equipment manufacturers need to open technical data describing their machinery and its behavior over time. Not possible - "commercial secrets". Operators would like precise forecasts from shippers to plan their fleet allocation better. It doesn't happen - "commercial secrets". These are the barriers to the idea.
