How to make money using LinkedIn in 2025.

LinkedIn is no longer just a digital job board – it’s a full-blown revenue generator when you know how to work it. The opportunities to make money are endless, from writing posts and making videos to using Sales Navigator and even scraping your competitors’ followers. But here’s the thing – it’s not about doing one thing; it’s about having a system that pulls everything together. It just so has it that we have what many deem to be one of the best systems in the world to do just that!

In this newsletter, I’ll summarize how I (we) generate pipeline and revenue on LinkedIn, share the strategies that I trust, and give you a simple, step-by-step plan to start generating revenue today.

1. Profile Optimization

There are 5 key areas to focus on, and I want to keep this simple so you can act today.

  1. Get great pictures that actually show your face! This isn’t a damn stock photo; people want to connect with a real person, not a logo.
  2. Your banner should clearly flex your area of expertise. This is free real estate on a billboard—use it! Don’t waste this space. Show them exactly what you do and why they should care.
  3. Start a newsletter like yesterday. It’s one of the easiest ways to build an audience and stay in front of the mind. Don’t wait around. Start it now.
  4. DMs are ATMs. That’s where the deals happen. If you’re not in the DMs building relationships, you’re missing the point of LinkedIn. You’ve got a direct line to your prospects. Use it!
  5. Your description is everything. It's what people see when they receive your invite, and it’s their first impression. Make sure it’s smart, clear, and shows value. You’ve got one shot to grab attention—make it count.

2. Content Creation

Let’s start with the foundation: content. Quality content has taken a front seat over quantity when you’re trying to make money on LinkedIn. Content sprawl be damned! This includes written posts, videos, carousels, pictures, and podcast micros.

Written Content -> If you have a thing for the pen, LinkedIn will favor you.

Share your expertise, tell stories, and solve problems. Be authentic and write with the intention of providing value. Personal storytelling is incredibly compelling here—it builds a relationship with your audience.

Video Content -> Videos are king.

You're missing out if you’re not creating video content on LinkedIn. Video builds trust faster, whether it’s a quick tip or a deep dive into a topic. And it’s more likely to show up in your followers' feeds.

Carousels and Pictures: These are attention-grabbers. Carousels allow you to share bite-sized bits of information in a scrollable format. People love them, especially when they’re designed well. Podcast Micros: If you’re running a podcast, LinkedIn is an excellent place to share micro clips. Tease upcoming episodes and share highlights to create curiosity and engagement.

TIP - Build a Content Strategy and Document your results. I utilize Trello and Shield for this.

3. The Magic of DMs

Direct Messages (DMs): I spend 90% of my time here. I love it. Our clients win BIG in the DMs as we manage their LinkedIn inboxes, so I am in the DM trenches 40+ hours a week.

Short messages make the words so important. Keep your messages short, sweet, and personalized. Don’t go in for the hard sell. Instead, aim to add value first. If you want to become an absolute legend, master voice notes. I leave over 50 of these weekly in either stalling out or new DMs that I start with a voice note.

Introduced in 2020, LinkedIn’s Voice Note feature allows users to send personalized audio messages through the mobile app, adding a personal touch to communication.

How do you do it?

  1. Open Linkedin Mobile
  2. Go to DM / message somebody
  3. See that mic bottom right? Press and hold!

Strategy 1: The New Connection Requests (The Power of Consistency) Every single day, I send 40-50 connection requests to my Ideal Client Profile (ICP) via Magnetic Mall. The accept rate? Around 40-55%. Here's why this works: You’re not just throwing darts into the dark; you’re reaching out to people who align with your business. And that consistency? That’s how you build a pipeline. You’re showing up every day, you’re adding value, and you’re expanding your network with people who are relevant. Don’t overcomplicate it, just make sure you’re hitting the right people with the right message.

Strategy 2: The Existing Connections (No Ask, Just Give) Now, here's where it gets deeper. For my existing connections, I’m sending out 20 personalized DMs or voice notes daily. But here's the twist: there’s no ask. This is all about giving. I’m checking in on them, offering insights, and sharing something I think will help them—whether it’s advice, an article, or just a quick hello. No pitch. No agenda. Just pure value.

This is relationship building 101. People aren’t looking to be sold to in every message. They want authenticity. They want to know you actually care.

And when you show up like that and give without asking for anything in return, that’s when the magic happens. They trust you. They respect you. And when it’s time for them to decide, who do you think they will reach out to?

Bottom line: It’s all about adding value, consistency, and playing the long game. If you do this every day, it’s only a matter of time before you start seeing the results. Relationships first. Sales follow. Period.

4. Newsletters

SEO—newsletters are perfect for boosting your search engine presence. Google loves fresh, consistent content; if you’re dropping knowledge weekly, you're building that momentum. But here’s the thing—it doesn’t stop there.

If you have fresh AF content in your newsletter? Repurpose it. Turn it into blog posts, LinkedIn articles, or even social posts. It’s the perfect content waterfall—one piece gives you multiple touchpoints across different platforms.

Maximize your time and effort while hitting your audience from all angles.

Here’s the key takeaway: You are building authority with every post. You’re creating a relationship with your audience. You’re showing up consistently, and you’re creating content that can live and grow long after you hit publish. People respect that. They trust that. And when they trust you, they’re way more likely to engage with what you’re offering. It's all Connected.

I've written 92 newsletters over the past 1.5 years. I look at as much time to reflect and organize my thoughts as much as I do SEO and delivering value to my audience.

5. LinkedIn Live

If podcasts are great, why the hell wouldn’t you go live? Live streaming on LinkedIn is a no-brainer.

Your audience is already there, so why not engage with them in real time?

LinkedIn Live is about delivering real-time engagement with your audience. You show up, answer questions, dive deep into topics, and connect on a level that pre-recorded content can’t touch. People want to connect with real humans, and live streaming lets you do that. You create a space where your audience feels like they truly know you.

The best part? You’re not limited to just the live session.

  • Stream it to the event
  • Share it on your feed
  • Chop it up into bite-sized content.

You can even turn it into an entire course. One live session equals a ton of valuable content.

Want to build trust and a?loyal community? Get on LinkedIn Live. It’s where real connections happen—raw, unfiltered, and authentic.

7. LinkedIn Sales Navigator

How It All Comes Together At this point, you might think, "This sounds like a lot of work." It is, but it’s also a system that, once set up, works for you.

You need to start with filtering down to your ICP, but do not skip a thing here. Measure a million times, cut once.

Some basic filtering logic can be found below.

We simplify the process by using Sales Navigator as the filtering and triggering mechanism to assemble the right leads at the right time. Then, we integrate them into our solution, Magnetic Mail, which powers our entire outbound and inbound sales motion.

We segment the ICP into job titles, and then we write messaging for each particular persona.

You can catch a glimpse below.

How do you get started today? It’s easier than you think to start monetizing LinkedIn right now.

Here’s a simple plan to kick things off:

  1. Set up your profile – Make sure it’s optimized for your niche. Be clear about who you serve and what problems you solve.
  2. Post consistently – Start with one post weekly and work your way up.
  3. Engage in DMs – Reach out to people in your ICP with personalized messages.
  4. Use Sales Navigator – Grab the free trial and get a feel for how it works.
  5. Experiment with LinkedIn Live – Do a casual Q&A or an interview with an expert.
  6. Start that newsletter today!

LinkedIn isn’t just a platform to build your professional rep—it’s a goldmine for making money. The key is consistency, strategy, and leveraging the right tools. It’s not about doing everything at once, but building momentum over time.

So, can you make money on LinkedIn? Our clients made over $107 million last year, and we have 16 of them;) You do the math.

Does LinkedIn work for sales? You bet. Now, it’s your turn to make it work for you.

These are good tips, Steve. Especially the newsletter. My LinkedIn newsletter gets the most views, on average, than my other content.
