Unlocking the leverage points, and axing shiny objects

Unlocking the leverage points, and axing shiny objects

The Lesson

Greetings from Troy,

Just wrapped a client call.

  • Driven
  • Female
  • CEO of a big consultancy
  • 54 years old with extensive experience

She has endless opportunities, and business is doing really well.

The conversation was focused on leverage and all of the opportunities that her company has to grow, but running out of time in the day to get to all of them.

Here’s what I said to her: “Let’s pinpoint the characteristics in people that have sent you the most business in the past, and what executive roles were they in?

Who has sent the most business your way, most profitable, most consistent.

If we want to get time back, we need to focus on the higher leverage conversations instead of just sifting and sorting through leads.”

For most people there are so many shiny objects we can focus on to drive perceived growth, but there is literally a goldmine sitting right in front of you.

Balancing numerous opportunities and limited time is a common struggle for many CEOs.

We often think there is a “new” and exciting way to do things, but the reality is sometimes you just need to get the most out of what you’ve currently got, once that is exhausted you can work on other strategies.

The Mission

Consultants have many projects they can work on and having a core focus and finding your leverage points are key. Having someone look over your shoulder, and helping you read the roadmap makes a road trip a little easier.

Your strategic positioning, optimizing your diagnostic sales process and honing in your central arguments are big needle movers.

These are some of the things I focus on with clients, but the end result is bigger contracts, better clients and building a purposeful practice while doing meaningful work that you love.

Here's a handful of examples https://troyassoignon.com/testimonials

The Study

When I'm at the gym, I'm often listening to podcasts. The Knowledge Project is often one of those. Here is an interview I listened to this week from one of the top leadership coaches in the world, Marshall Goldsmith.

Marshall Goldsmith Interview - The Knowledge Project

One thing I LOVED what he said...

"I'd be nothing without the clients I work with, if I didn't have great clients I wouldn't be recognized as the greatest leadership coach my clients are what makes me who I am as a coach." - Marshall Goldsmith

The Homework

What are some of the lowest hanging fruits that you can tap into, to move everything forward?

What is right in front of you that you're either avoiding, choosing to not engage and something you've been THINKING about, but not moving it forward with tenacity?

On your side, Troy

P.S. Want 1:1 help with gaining more profit and simplifying your consultancy with one offer that gives you more free time and uspretty easy to deliver.

During this time you'll be creating your body of work and we'll position you as a sought after expert in your space. DM me the words "Growth" and I'll help you streamline everything.

Great advice! Focusing on high-leverage connections maximizes impact and saves time. Troy Assoignon
