??New HMRC R&D Disclosure Service launched December 2024
The recently launched HMRC R&D Disclosure Service allows businesses to voluntarily correct overclaimed R&D tax relief for accounting periods between 2 and 6 years ago. This initiative is part of HMRC’s wider efforts to tackle errors and fraud, with increasing scrutiny on R&D claims.

??Is the HMRC Pre-Notification process blocking legitimate claims?
Since April 2023, HMRC’s pre-notification requirement has added a new hurdle for businesses looking to claim R&D tax relief. If your company hasn’t claimed in the past three years, you must notify HMRC in advance or risk losing out on valuable funding.
Many businesses have already been caught out by this rule, missing their chance to claim despite conducting genuine, innovative R&D. Is this extra layer of admin blocking legitimate claims?

Innovate UK is offering up to ￡25 million in loans to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Innovate UK innovation loans are for highly innovative late-stage research and development (R&D) projects with the best potential for the future. There must be a clear route to commercialisation and economic impact.

The NIHR Invention for Innovation (i4i) Programme is a translational research funding scheme aimed at medical devices, in vitro diagnostic devices, and digital health technologies addressing an existing or emerging health or social care need.

Applications open: 18th February 2025
Deadline: 18th March 2025
